Grey.
Everthing in those quarters were grey.
The Walls. The Floors. The Table. The Beds. The Closets.
Even the loo roll was grey.
I had always hated those quarters. They were so boring and depressing, reminding me of the life before. I wanted to move to a more comfortable way of life on the officers decks, but, Rimmer took so smegging long getting them decontaminated. The procedure should have lasted two weeks, not two years.
Grey defined the life that I was clinging onto.
Time for a new one.

White.
The White room. Officer's quarters 987.
I loved that room.
For one, It had a kitchen. I could actually make a real curry in that room, instead of going down a metre to the nearest vending machine. And a shower, oh god a shower. No longer did I have to go down to the public showers with the Cat. I swear, dicks should not have spines.
This room was the closest to heaven could be.
The feeling was rather ruined when we go outside of course. Rimmer apparently had to remove most of the white corridor plates during the de-con period. It really made me feel uneasy.
Probably time to fix that.

After two years on Starbug and one year in a prison, I was ready to go back to the White room.
Only to find that during Red Dwarf's rebuilding, it had become a storage facility.
Total, Complete, Bollocks.
My Paradise was gone.
So, Rimmer decided to move to the near-top of the ship, right next to the captain's quarter's. He didn't want the Captains until he became an officer.
It was really tiny. Smaller than the first one. But, I lived in a locker once, so it reminded me of the cosiness of that locker. It was quite nice.
However, due to the lack of a telly, my biggest source of entertainment was Rimmer trying to hang his portrait up and failing repeatedly.

Red.
The colour of the new room.
The Cosy room's crampedness had finally gotten to me. So we decided to move again.
We went down to the freighter bays. I had become sick of all the white, so, Kryten and I built a new room in one of the storage room. A bunk area, kitchen, Television and Game suite and a brand new table were scrounged into that room.
I felt proud of myself for doing that.
I still love Earth and would still jump to the chance of returning. But the dwarf is home now. And how better to represent it than the red it's painted.

The End.
