Long Overdue

A Nalu drabble

That particular morning the guild was quiet except for Lucy's frustared yelling coming from the infirmary on the second floor. When Erza came in she looked at Mira with a raised eyebrow and the white-haired bartender grimaced before answering.

"Natsu just came back from a mission... Actually Happy carried a beaten and bruised Natsu in. Lucy is... Well Lucy heared about it and..."

Erza held up her hand and sighed.

"I get the picture, thanks Mira."

The takeover mage smiled and set a cup of tea in front of Erza.

The yelling upstairs went on for nearly half an hour before the guild went almost eerily quiet. Both Erza and Mira looked towards the ceiling and Erza pushed away from the bar.

"I'm going to see if she finally snapped and killed him," the red-haired Knight muttered and murmures went around the guildhall. There were actually bets going on when Lucy was really going to snap and try to kill Natsu.

Going up the stairs was almost a chore for Erza but she pressed on anyway and came face to face with a snickering Happy in front of the closed infirmary door.

The blue Exeed had both paws pressed to his mouth, but his snickers were still audible and he was almost vibrating as he hopped from foot to foot.

Erza opened her mouth but the Exeed shook his head wildly.

"Shh," he shushed and pointed to the door.

Overcome with curiosity Erza quietly opened the door and peeked in. And there was Natsu, pressing Lucy to the mattress, her arms around his neck, his hands in her hair, kissing like only two people who'd been denying those desires for years could kiss.

With and smile Erza closed the door and sighed.

It was long overdue, after all.
