A Single Star

The Coruscant sky was clear as glass that night, the shimmering stars sprinkled across the midnight horizon. The Gardens at the Jedi Temple were particularly peaceful as well, the only light being the bright moon beams shining down on the trees and the plants.

Ahsoka Tano sat on a bench soaking in all peace in these surroundings. The young Togrutan Padawan closed her turquoise eyes and took in a deep breath of the cool night air. She wished she could stay there forever, though she knew that was far from ever being true.

The girl heard soft footsteps behind her, and not more than a minute later, she felt someone sit down on the bench next to her. She knew who it was, without even looking.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" Said Anakin Skywalker, her master and best friend. Ahsoka nodded, opening her eyes.

"Now I know why Master Yoda comes here so much," She said, staring up into the glittering sky. "It's… breathtaking." She said softly.

"Yes, it is," Anakin replied. He didn't even bother to ask his Padawan why she was up so late. He… didn't bother to tease her at all, actually. He felt a little place in his heart melt at the sight of his student in her quiet and calm state, her peacefulness. Anakin gazed up into the sky as well. He gasped slightly. "Ahsoka… look," He said, pointing into the sky.

A single shooting star flew across the sky, looking like a giant firework in space. Chills ran down Ahsoka's spine as she watched in awe. "Wow," She breathed in amazement.

"I used to find Obi-Wan here at night sometimes when I was still a Padawan," Anakin said, "I never did understand it… until I saw it for myself."

Ahsoka nodded, still staring up at the sky. "I wish I never had to leave," She said quietly. Her eyelids began to get heavy as she grew tired. She stifled a yawn. "I should probably be going to bed…" She said, yawning again.

"That would probably be a good idea," Anakin said, getting up off the bench.

"I'll see you in the morning, Master." She said, smiling.

"See you in the morning," Anakin replied. But as Ahsoka walked away, Anakin stared back up at the late night sky, and stayed a while longer, just soaking up the rich peacefulness of the garden.
