Magic Works

Dance, your final dance
This is your final chance
James slipped onto the floor as the music started up, an old tune certainly – but also one of the most romantic songs he'd ever heard. James held his hand out to Lily – just his hand, no words at all this time. Lily was here with someone else for the Twizard Tournament Ball, but James didn't care – he only needed one dance.
To hold the one you love
You know you've waited
Long enough
In another time, years in the future Harry stumbled across the floor towards Ginny Weasley – and held out his hand. It was the graduation dance – Ginny had come with someone else, Harry didn't know whom, and he didn't care. The Weird Sisters had done a remake of this song – Magic Works. Well Harry was going to give it a try just this last time. So Harry held out his hand, just his hand – hoping that the read haired beauty would accept, he only needed one dance.
So believe, that magic works
Don't be afraid, of being hurt
Don't let, this magic die
James smiled as the petite woman pressed her hand into his hand, and he pulled her onto the floor with him. He didn't take center stage with her though – just a corner of the room was perfect, somehow the spotlight he usually took seemed wrong for this dance. Her eyes lifted, emerald green eyes with depths that he had never seen anywhere else. Emerald green met liquid brown.
The answers there
Oh, just look in her eyes
Harry held Ginny close as they drifted in a perfect haze across the floor, this was perfection – this was what life meant. She stared up into his eyes, liquid brown meeting emerald green once again. Perfect love, colliding with perfect love.
And make, your final move
Don't be scared
She wants you to
Normally James would have let the girl take this step, but something told him – now, now James is perfect. Leaning down he pressed his lips softly to her full ones. Delicate, fragile kiss – light, but firm enough to mean something.
Yeah its hard
You must be brave
Don't let this moment slip away
The lights sparkled in Ginny's eyes as Harry finished soundly kissing her in that light fairy-tale manner. Ginny glowed, absolutely glowed in Harry's arms, he grinned foolishly and she pressed herself against his chest.
So believe, that magic works
Don't be afraid, afraid of being hurt
No, don't let, this magic die
James smiled as Lily wrapped herself more firmly around his neck, she was like an angel come down specifically for this perfect dance, to come down and dance this final magical dance.
The answers there
Yeah, just look in her eyes
Harry stared into Ginny's eyes, and realized that he had never seen anything so beautiful, not even Unicorns compared to the delicate creature he held cradled softly in his arms.
And don't believe that magic can die,
This magic can't die.
James smiled again as he realized he'd finally broke the barrier with the angel who was Lily – this was going to last, this dance was always going to mean something.
Harry held Ginny close and breathed in the smell of her perfume, the faint herbal scent filling his senses. This was meant to be, this dance would always be.
So dance, your final dance,
'Cause this is, your final chance
Two different dances, two different times – time ceases to have meaning as soul mates meet on the floor of a dance.
A/N: All right, I know that any reglular reader's of mine are probably wondering what caused me to write such a happy love story. The answer it was...I don't know, I heard the song and I suddenly knew that I either had to go out and find my soul mate this instant and dance with them and write this story. Since there is a sad lack of soul mates about I decided to write this story.
