Author's notes:

1. I used the tune of La Marseillaise because it's fairly universally known, and easy to find if you don't know it.

2. References to the school's characteristics are based on everything that's known about it, including the following:
a) it's a chateau in the Pyrenees
b) it accepts students from all over western Europe
c) there are several fountains in the grounds
d) the school crest is crossed wands, each emitting three stars
e) in the medieval era it gave rise to many alchemists, including Nicholas Flamel, so there are lots of ornamentations of gold and other precious metals within the school.

3. Earlier in the competition I had suggested that the school motto might be "Aedificare castellum astra" - build a castle of stars - based on the stars on the crest and their dual connotations of hopes and successful people. I've also included that concept in the song.

4. I know that, strictly speaking, the school song would be in French, but since there are so many English-only Harry Potter fans and my French isn't good enough for good poetry, I decided an English version was necessary.

Beauxbatons School Song

(to the tune of La Marseillaise)

.

We are the school among the mountains,

And we come from near and far.

In our chateau set out with fountains

We are building a castle of stars,

We are building a castle of stars,

A blaze of light for those around us.

In times of discord or of peace

Our learning and hope never cease,

So that nothing evil may confound us.

All hail, Beauxbatons!

Our home of gold and bronze.

March on! March on!

Hold your wands high

And sing for Beauxbatons!

.
