People Person

"I'm not bisexual."

Josh came to a cold stop at the door of Sam's office as he overhead the statement. He leaned against the wall, out of sight, allowing himself to eavesdrop.

"You've told people you were bisexual."

Josh recognized Danny's voice and grinned. Of course Danny would ask that question. When the conversation got back to CJ she would flip out and making CJ flip out was a hobby for Danny.

"I've told individuals that I'm open to a happy relationship with anyone, male or female."

"So you're bisexual."

"No."

Josh could picture the confusion on Danny's face, and he held back a laugh. This could be an entertaining eavesdropping session.

"You're open to relationships with both sexes, but you're not bisexual?"

"No."

"Sam, do you understand the idea behind bisexual? Because, I can tell you, you are bisexual."

"Yes, I understand the idea behind bisexual, and I know of the connotation behind the word also."

"Connotations?"

Josh heard Sam's chair squeak, and he knew that if Sam were wearing his glasses, they'd be pulled off now. It was time for lawyer Sam to explain something to client Danny.

"Connotations behind bisexuality are pretty easy. I prefer either men to women or women to men. I'm confused about my sexuality, so I don't choose, and I'm easy.

In truth, I don't prefer men over women or vice versa. I want certain things in a person; I don't look at sex. I can assure you I'm clear-minded and never have been confused over my sexuality, and I am not easy. I'm very particular on my partners."

Josh stepped around the doorjamb, hiding his grin for the most part. "Sam, you got a second?"

Sam looked over. "Danny and I are almost finished. I'm getting the third degree about my sexuality."

"It took a reporter this long to grill you? We've been in office for two years." Josh handed Sam a folder.

He shrugged. "I never hid it."

"This is DC. Most reporters are busy looking for a hidden scandal. You didn't give them enough of a challenge."

"But now I'm giving Danny ammunition for the next briefing."

"CJ will hurt you. A lot."

Sam grinned. "Maybe I should shut up."

Danny finally interrupted. "You can shut up after you explain how you can want both sexes, but can't be bisexual."

"I'm a people person."

"Are you being personable towards any certain person?"

"Yes."

"For how long?"

"Little over a year."

"Who is it?"

"That's all I'm saying."

"That's all?"

Sam nodded. "That's all."

Danny thought it over. "Okay, I'm going to go bother CJ." He got up from his chair and left Sam's office.

Josh shut the door behind Danny and turned back to Sam. "You're a people person?"

"I hate the word bisexual. The connotations make the actual meaning muddled."

"Haven't I heard this rant? Yes, I just did hear this rant." Sam raised his eyebrows. "You were eavesdropping?"

"I walk by your office, hear you say 'I'm not bisexual', and you expect me to keep walking?"

"Not really."

"I didn't think so." Josh smiled as Sam leaned in and kissed him slowly. When he pulled away, Josh's smile got wider. "You're a people person?"

"Technically."

"Technically?"

"If I must categorize, I'm a Josh person."
