Alone

Heart staying numb,
escapes the pain.
But what's the use?
It's all the same.

The wake of dawn
a restless night
it's now too late
to do it right.

The faces come
and then are gone
you're left again
cold and alone.

The past comes to haunt-
you lose your grip
against fair skin
a cold metal tip.

Death's sweet embrace
so inviting and soft
a cowards way out
can make it all stop-

For once and forever-
you hold metal tight
her image, her words
tatooed in your mind.

But you have to be strong
have to play the part
sheathe your sword
tuck away your heart.

Put on the mask
a serenity's face
signs of torment inside
gone without trace.

But eyes are the wells
deep, thoughtful, sad
will anyone ever
see, understand?
