Once upon a time, in a cave far far away from civilization, lived a dragon. The dragon's name was Berwald, and he was a scary dragon. Too scary.

Now you see, Berwald was what you would call a gentle giant, although nobody took the time to get to know was always lonely, no person would go near his cave. not even other dragons. The only time he ever made contact with living things was when he went searching for food, or when a human wandered into his cave on accident.

At first, Berwald searched all over for other dragons; to make friends. But it was no use. They were scared of him, and went into hiding. So he gave up, and went into isolation. He thought he would be alone for the rest of his life.

Until one day, he was awoken from his sleep by the sound of wings fluttering. He opened one golden eye and spotted a fairy boy, looking around the cave with a curious look on his face.

This fairy's name was Tino, and he was very kind and curious. He loved making all sorts of friends; trolls, centaurs, mermaids, and nymphs. Even animals and humans.

"Hello." Berwald mumbled, causing Tino to jump. The fairy thought he was alone. The dragon moved from his laying down position to sit up, coming out from his shadowed position.

Tino couldn't move for a moment; he was too scared. His violet eyes met the dragon's golden ones, and he saw that they held no anger towards him. Instead he looked as if he was waiting. What could he be waiting for?

It took him a few moments to speak. "H-Hello!" Tino piped up. "Wh-Who are you?" he asked. Berwald gave him a surprised look, then responded. "My name is Berwald. What is your name, fairy?" Tino grew a small smile on his face, feeling a bit braver. "I'm Tino." he told the dragon, who nodded and laid back down.

"What are you doing here by yourself, Berwald?" the fairy asked, curious. "Aren't dragons always together?"

Berwald turned his head away, and sadness came back to his features at the reminder. "I'm alone. Nobody wants to be friends with a scary dragon like me." he said with a sigh.

Tino frowned.

His eyes widened in surprise when he felt a soft hand on his claw, and he looked to see that Tino had put his hand over his, and looked at him with a sad smile on his face. "If you want, Berwald, I'll be your friend!" the fairy squeaked. Berwald gave him an incredulous look. Was he serious? The thoughtful look on his face gave him the answer, and the corner of his mouth twitched upwards in a smile.

"Okay."

The End.
