Irreparable
"Hidan," Kakuzu said, watching the other man out of the corner of his eye.
His companion wiped the blood from his mouth, a dry hiss escaping his lips. Clutching his wounded chest, he began ripping the metal spikes from flesh. "Fuck..." he managed. "Stupid bitch. She didn't look like much."
Beneath the mask, Kakuzu's mouth twisted into a grimace. "If you aren't careful you're going to get into trouble, you know."
Hidan believed in eternity. He believed in things at first glance, and he believed in his god. A little too blindly. Just because Jashin said everything would always be fine, didn't mean that the stitches etched in Hidan's skin were mere scars. They were the mistakes left behind by a careless mind.
They were sharp reminders of the physical world as well. He needed those repairs just as he needed the rush of adrenaline he got with every kill. Kakuzu knew it, and for some reason, he was getting used to it. Sometimes, he felt like he needed Hidan as well, although he wasn't sure why.
Maybe he just liked the idea of a companion that wouldn't die if broken.
Grunting, Hidan shot him a glare. His eyes were bloodshot and open wide, and his teeth glinted in the harsh moonlight. "I don't need your fucking help. And I'm not going to screw up anytime soon! What the hell is your problem?"
Shaking his head, Kakuzu stomped over to the priest, black nails digging into his open shoulder. Hidan snapped his teeth like a wolf, balking as dark threads slipped from Kakuzu's sleeves. Unsympathetic, the thread forced its way into the bleeding wounds, stitching with a grace that was neither gentle or soft.
"Someday you're going to break something that I can't sew up."

With cold eyes the Chuunin watched him, judgmental, unforgiving. But he wasn't Jashin-sama. He shouldn't have been able to try the faithful.
"It's your partner's blood."
Teeth parted with a soft sigh. Hidan's hands felt cold and ethereal as they trailed along the pike. So familiar, yet so far away.
Kakuzu's nails dug into his skin again, and those glowing eyes stared into his soul.
