Round One

Matchmaker's Card - Harry Potter

My Card - Parvati Patil

Pick a Card, Any Card Challenge - Queen of Spades: Write about Parvati Patil

Greek Mythology Mega Challenge - Pan: Write about rejection.

Note: This takes place during GoF, after the Yule Ball but before the final challenge. Also, this includes a lot of sass and a bit of sarcasm… I'm not sure how well it will come over the internet… So yeah…

...

Parvati was furious. She had spent five hours getting ready for the Yule Ball, not to mention two hours begging Lavender to help her. So seven hours in total. SEVEN.

And Harry freaking Potter couldn't even be bothered to dance with her more than once. Hell, he barely even looked at her after the champions' dance. He was too busy drooling over Cho Chang.

What was even so great about her? It's not like she was even single. She had Cedric Diggory.

Parvati was single though. But she wasn't happy about it.

She had waited weeks for Harry to ask her to the ball. She turned down twelve other boys in the process, including three from Durmstrang and two from Beauxbatons.

Short of wearing a sign around her neck saying "HARRY POTTER, ASK ME TO THE BALL", she had done everything to get him to ask.

And when he finally did, it was in a last ditch effort to not go alone. How perfect.

To make everything worse, he made it absolutely no secret that he didn't even want to be there. He didn't even bother to pretend that he was having a good time with her. And he made the entire night absolutely miserable for her.

Nothing went right.

Now, Parvati wasn't stupid. She knew that people just thought she liked Harry because he was a champion and famous.

And she did.

But that was only a shallow, unimportant reason.

No. Parvati was genuinely interested in him because of who he was as a person. He was brave and strong. When he believed in something, no matter how wrong he was, he stuck with it. Through thick and thin, he stood by his friends.

As a Gryffindor, she found those qualities appealing. And she had hoped for something more to come out of the Ball.

She'd thought everything was going to be perfect.

But apparently fate wasn't on her side this time… Maybe she should read her tea leaves more carefully next time?
