A/N – This is going to be a two chapter story. Let me know what you think.

Chapter 1

"Santana, I still don't think this dinner is such a good idea. Maybe if we tell your mother that we both got food poisoning from our lunch today then she will cancel it." Brittany sat on the edge of the bed wrapped in a bath towel because she just got out of the shower. She was scowling and fidgeting with her fingers.

Santana closed her eyes and smiled, "Britt, we went to lunch with my mother after she picked us up at the airport. All three of us ordered the same salad. Don't you think she might find it was a bit odd if both of us got food poisoning and she didn't? Besides we are staying at my parent's house so they might notice that we aren't vomiting uncontrollably and we don't look sick. Food poisoning is a big deal. I've never been able to lie to my parents about being sick especially my father. He was always able to see right through my lies about being sick with his doctor eye that kind of works like my Mexican third eye."

Maribel had picked them up at the airport that morning from their month long honeymoon in the Bahamas. Then she insisted on taking them out to lunch. It was then she told them she had invited the Pierces and Alma to the Lopez house that evening for honeymoon welcome home dinner.

"Well then we could always say we got food poisoning from our last dinner in the Bahamas. Your mom went back to work after dropping us off and we haven't seen your father all day. We could tell them we threw up for four hours straight and then stopped. We both have beautiful honeymoon tans so even food poisoning isn't going to make us look pale and sick." Brittany was trying really hard to find a way out of this family dinner.

Santana got up from the vanity in her bedroom where she had been putting on her makeup and walked over to the bed sitting beside Brittany. She reached over and intertwined the fingers on her right hand with Brittany's fingers on her left hand.

"What's going on babe? Why don't you want our families to have dinner together tonight?" Santana gave Brittany a sympathetic look because she could see that her wife was seriously worried about the dinner.

Brittany looked down at the floor and shrugged her shoulders. "It's just that my parents can be…and your parents are…not to even mention your abuela is…it just isn't a good idea." Brittany rambled on a mini-panic.

Santana didn't like to see Brittany so upset. "Britt, I think you left out a few words there. How about we break it down one at a time? When I say a sentence you finish it. Your parents can be…"

Britt sighed before looking at Santana, "Um… unpredictable to say the least."

Santana smiled at Brittany's answer. "That's a great way to describe your parents because they certainly can be unpredictable at times. Like how your father missed us walking down the aisle and saying our vows because he got distracted by the chickens on the way back to barn from the bathroom."

"He spotted Sir Cock-a-Doodle-Doo and just had to say hi to him. You know my father got quite close to him while he stayed at my parent's house for a few days after you wouldn't let me ritualistic slaughter him to counteract the bad the luck of you seeing me in my wedding dress before our wedding. My father wanted to keep him but my mother wanted to make him into fried chicken. We were lucky the people on the farm were willing take him in and call him their own." Brittany was quick to defend her father's actions which brought a smile to Santana's face.

"Britt, we were lucky to get him out of the school before Sue had the lunch ladies prepare him for her lunch. Sir Cock-a-Doodle-Doo aside, your parents are unpredictable but that's one of the things I love about them."

"You love my parents?" Brittany asked quietly.

"Of course I do they are my mother and father-in-law plus I have you because of them. You are a wonderfully, caring, loving, and an extremely passionate woman because of them. You are a perfect mixture of your parents. You have the innocence of a child sometimes just like your father. Your father and you have the same imagination. Your mother sometimes doesn't filter what comes out of her mouth just like you. Your mother is so full of life and she lives life to its fullest just like you. Now finish this sentence for me. Santana's parents are…"

Brittany was still thinking about all of the things Santana had just said about her parents so it took a few seconds before she spoke. "Normal".

Santana waited a few seconds thinking Brittany probably had more to say but when Brittany looked down without saying anything more Santana knew Brittany was done. "Normal, that's the word you use to describe my parents?" Santana questioned with a big scowl on her face.

"You ask that like being normal is almost a bad thing." Brittany was definitely confused by Santana's reaction.

Santana shook her head no. "It's not that it's that I don't see my parents as being normal. I don't even know what word normal means anymore."

"Well according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary the definition of normal is usual, ordinary, not strange, mentally and physically healthy. Your parents fit that definition. The only part of my parents that fits the definition is that are physically healthy." Brittany stated with the definition word for word without hesitating.

Santana thought for a few moments, "I still don't think my parents are anymore normal than your parents. I love my parents so much and I hate to say it but they can be a little boring sometimes, especially my father. He follows the same routine every day. My mother can be a bit edgy and feisty but she likes routine too. When my mother was on stage singing at our wedding with your mother and dancing with us it was the outgoing side of my mother I don't very often."

Brittany let go of Santana's hand and put her hand on Santana's lower back as they both still sat on the edge of the bed. She gently rubbed Santana's lower back as she spoke. "Our parents are different and there's nothing wrong with that at all. I'm just afraid that those differences are going to make it difficult for them to ever be close. For example, look at my father's toast at the wedding. By the time he was done everyone in the room was scowling and confused but on the other hand your father's toast left some people with tears in their eyes. He's words were so genuine and thoughts out." Brittany quoted Santana's father's toast word for word.

'I raise my glass and toast my daughter and the woman she has chosen to be her wife. Santana, you are a gift from God to your mother and me. I will always be grateful to have been given the honor of being your father. I'd also like to express our joy in welcoming Brittany's family to our family. In the past few weeks we've had a chance to get to know Pierce, Whitney, and their family, and it's now clear just why Brittany is such a wonderful woman. Finally in closing I'd like to say to Santana and Brittany, may God continue to bless your marriage with love and happiness.'

When Brittany finished reciting the toast that Santana's father had given at their wedding there were tears in both of their eyes but especially in Santana's. "I can't believe you can recite that word for word. Just how many times have you watched our wedding video? I know I caught you watching at least five times on our honeymoon." Santana asked wiping the tears from her eyes.

"You know once I hear something it stays in my brain and I've watched our wedding video ten times because a part of me still can't believe we are actually married even though I obviously was there. It's just something that I dreamt about and to be honest with you there times I thought maybe we'd never find our way back to each other to make the dream come true." Brittany's tears overflowed and fell down her face which Santana quickly wiped away.

"Babe, we did find our way back to each other and we are going to be together for infinity. And our families are going to end up bonding and we all are going to be one big happy family." Santana kissed the tip of Brittany's nose after she finished talking because she knew that bring a smile to Brittany's which it did for a brief time.

Brittany continued to express her fears over the dinner. "I'm just worried tonight's dinner is too soon for our families to be together. My mother is bound to make some remark about our honeymoon sex and I have no idea what words will come out of my father's mouth. Then there's your abuela. Your relationship with her is still fragile and needs to be handled with loving care. What if my family freaks her out?"

Santana knew Brittany was being serious but she couldn't help but hide a laugh with her hand much like she did when Brittany sang My Cup in NYC. "Britt, are you forgetting you went to my abuela's house posing as an agency nurse trying to get her to talk about her stool, then somehow ended up watching telenovelas with her, and then the clincher is you got her to be on Queso Por Dos. If that didn't freak it her out I don't think anything your mother or father can say will freak it her out, do you? When I saw my abuela on Queso Por Dos I saw the woman I used love being around as a child and it was you who brought that out in her. She actually was having fun. My abuela, no I mean our abuela, loves you because she saw what you were willing to do to try and help her and I repair our relationship. She has always been an excellent judge of character and even though she doesn't agree that two women should get married she knows you love me and would do anything for me. And tonight at dinner she will be able to see what awesome people your parents even if they unpredictable. Just in case you didn't notice abuela can be a little feisty and unpredictable herself."

"I know I was a little shocked abuela called one of men on telenovelas a bastard and she was practically drooling over a man who had no shirt on." Brittany raised her eyebrows as he spoke.

"No, I don't want to hear any of this!" Santana put her fingers in her ears.

When Santana took her fingers out of her ears Brittany was quick to add, "I guess you don't want to hear about how she asked me if our relationship was full of fire and passion. Well not our relationship because she thought I was engaged to man not you at the time. You probably don't want to hear how I told her we both dislocated a hip once."

Santana just sat there with her mouth open and her forehead scrunched up. "Please tell me you didn't tell her about that?"

"I did but of course I didn't go into details because then she would've known you were my fiancé. I didn't tell her how it happened while we were touring with Mercedes as the Troubletones and that for three shows we both had to sit on stools and couldn't dance because we were in so much pain. You know I would go through all of that pain again for the three mind blowing scissoring orgasms we both had that night."

Santana felt herself blush because it was true they were like wild animals that night for some reason and had never scissored so much or so hard. "Me too Britt." It was all Santana could say because she felt a little tingle between her legs just thinking about that night.

"Hopefully abuela won't remember me telling her about dislocating our hips now that she knows I was talking about you and me." Brittany's eyes were huge when she realized abuela might remember what she had told her.

"Yeah, I don't think she's quite ready to think about what we do behind closed doors. Although she seemed ok with our PDA during the wedding. I caught her looking at us and smiling several times." Santana felt tears coming to her eyes again because she still couldn't believe her abuela came to their wedding.

"Santana, Brittany I'm home!" Maribel yelled up the stairs.

"It's still not too late to tell her we have food poisoning." Brittany tried once last plea.

"Britt, let's enjoy dinner with our families. Don't worry the evening will fly by without any problems." Santana leaned in and kissed Brittany. At first the kiss was a normal kiss but then it became more heated with tongues involved and lips being nipped by teeth.

"SANTANA, CAN YOU PLEASE COME HELP ME WITH DINNER?" Maribel shouted up the steps.

Santana and Brittany reluctantly pulled a part. "BE DOWN IN A MINUTE MAMI!"
