song for my songfic:
Sometimes Love Just Aint
Enough - Patti Smyth and Don Henley
Setting: NY
'ship: Danny/Lindsey
Situation: Lindsay contemplates if she and Danny have a chance to stay together.
Max Rating: PG
Disclaimer: I don't own the CSI: NY characters or the song the story is plotted after.
Lindsay was hurting, breaking inside. He meant so much to her; she loved him. She just didn't know if she could continue. They worked together but it didn't mean they were always together. They worked on different cases; they hardly ever had time for each other. Could they really continue a relationship they had to keep a secret? Or one where they never saw each other? Would the love they had for each other be enough to keep them together and work through any problems?
Danny was the one guy she could actually look past any funny quirks or flaws and see the great guy that she loved. He treated her like she was gold. She always felt bad that she had made him work so hard to get her. She had inkling from the beginning that he liked her, but she was new and assumed it was just a little crush. He had seemed crushed when she had stood him up when he asked her out, but when he had come to the trial when she testified about the murders she witnessed it had been the icing on the cake for her. For her to know that she had that kind of backing was the evidence of his affection she needed.
She missed those days, when she had him so close to her all the time. And their relationship had become more interesting with having to keep their union a secret at work. Then the intrigue and fun had begun to diminish. They had such busy schedules, which of course couldn't be the same. He would come over late and she would be asleep by the time he got there, and the same would happen to her.
There had to be something more, something that could keep them together, and something more than love. The love was there, that was never a problem, but something had to change. She needed him with her, beside her. She didn't want to wake in the night anymore without him beside her. Maybe they needed to tell people; maybe keeping it a secret was too much. If people knew maybe they would make sure they had time together.
Would their love ever be enough to keep them together?
