I awkwardly sat on my bed with my legs crossed. Glinda sat behind me, pulling the hairbrush through my dark hair, chattering all the while. "You know, Elphie, your hair is horribly pretty. Actually, your makeover is going over pretty well. I wouldn't be surprised if someone developed a crush on you."
I rolled my eyes. "I don't think so."
"Oh, you never know. Anyway, there must be someone you like. Tell me. I promise I won't tell!"
Only then was I stuck by the oddness of my situation. I could hardly say, "Gee, Glinda, I think there is a guy I like." Glinda would squeel then, and say "Ooh! Elphie you have to tell me! Who is it? Do I know him?" And I would say. "Actually, you do. I like Fiyero." And then Glinda would promptly chuck me out the window, with her bare hands.
I sighed. "Not really. Besides, who would want to date a piece of asparagus?"
Glinda audibly sighed. "You know, most men say waht they like best about a girl is confidence. Little things can be ignored if a girl is confident."
"Oh, I am a confident piece of asparagus."
"Elphie, you are not a piece of asparagus. Or an artichoke. Or a green bean... Now stop moping and listen to me. Some day I guy is gonna come in here and sweep you off your feet.. OOh! We'll have a doubly wedding! I'm sure Fiyero won't mind waiting."
Fiyero... Stop it, Elphaba! No day dreaming over your best friend- your only friend's boyfriend when you are sitting with her.
"Whatever you say, whatever you say."
