So, this is my first Narnia story. It is not slash, just a brotherly moment between Edmund and Peter. Written in response to the alarming number of Peter/oc stories.
Disclaimer: I do not in any way own any of the characters you see.
Edmund Pevensie looked up from his book as a high-pitched giggle reached his ears. He walked over to the open library window and looked out at the entrance path leading to Cair Paravel's doors. Edmund rolled his eyes at the all too familiar sight. Peter was bowing politely and helping another giggling girl, who hoped to become the High King's wife, into her departing carriage.
Even though Edmund had returned to his book, his mind was still at the entrance courtyard with Peter. "I don't see what's so special about Peter, anyway, besides the High King part," he thought to himself as he absent-mindedly flipped through his book. "All the girls always come for Peter."
"I'm a great guy, too," Edmund muttered to himself.
"Of course you are, Ed," came Peter's voice. Edmund looked up to find that his older brother had taken the seat across from him.
"Oh, hi, Peter," Edmund greeted. "Have fun with, uh, Lady, uh, what's her name?"
"You mean the Duchess of Archenland?" Peter sighed. "And, no. I'm glad to see her off. She had to be the most obnoxious, conceited girl I've met to date."
"Tut, Peter," Edmund reprimanded jokingly, "that's no way for a king to act. What would Susan have to say?"
Peter laughed. "Yes, but your not much better. What with shutting yourself away up here when ever we have visitors."
"Yes, but I see no fun in sitting around listening to another girl talk about you, herself, or you and her together."
"Yes, I suppose that makes sense," Peter frowned, "but how do you know that none of the visitors are for you?"
"Yes, well, have you read this book, quite interesting," Edmund said, holding up his book for Peter to see.
"Edmund, don't change the subject. And yes I have, it was absolutely dreadful."
Edmund sighed and placed the book on the arm of his chair. "I don't know. I assume. If any of the visitors were for me, I would be alerted. Plus, I learned what to expect after the first couple of girls, as all of them came for you."
Peter nodded and laughed. "Unfortunately, you're right. But why is that bothering you?"
Edmund looked at him as though it was the most obvious thing. "It's, I mean…"
"I think I get it." Peter stood up and stretched before ruffling the younger king's hair. "You'll get visitors too. Someday. And when you do, you'll wish you never had." Edmund gave Peter a disgruntled look as the High King exited the room.
Edmund remained in the library for a few more hours. Edmund looked up as he heard a knock on the door. The faun, Mr. Tumnus, walked into the library after Edmund bade him come in.
"My King," Mr. Tumnus said, bowing low, "I'm sorry to bother you, but there is a visitor who has just arrived. She would like to meet you."
Edmund quirked an eyebrow and followed the faun out of the library, hoping his suitors weren't as bad as Peter's.
So what did you think? Love it, hate it? Let me know.
