The Flow of Hatred
Zira was not always obsessed with revenge
Her life started out normal enough actually
She played with the other cubs and acted like any cu should
But she always looked different
She had a long scar-like birthmark
Her fur was a different shade
Her blood red eyes held more authority
And even her general build was different
She always stayed thinner than the other lionesses
As she grew older and learned how to hunt
She had to rely on speed
Since she wasn't muscular
She remained loyal to her pride and had many friends
That all changed when she met Taka
She was attracted to the young male instantly
Like her, he was sleek, quick, and cunning
Both of their wits were sharper than their claws
And they both differed greatly from the average Pridelander
Zira tried hard to impress the young prince
But he failed to take much notice of her
He was too busy brooding about only being second in line for the throne
Taka eventually changed his name to Scar
Others thought it was because of a mistake Taka made
But Zira knew it was because of his internal scars that never seemed to fade
Scar wandered into the Elephant Graveyard often
Zira was angered by Mufasa's lack of attention given to his younger brother
She didn't realize the true burdens of ruling a kingdom
So she gathered a small band of lionesses who also despised Mufasa
And offered her undying loyalty to Scar
Scar had little use for them at first
But he used them often after he became king
They were his extra support
The hyenas protected him too
Though they were strong they had many flaws
So Zira and her group became his more cunning bodyguards
When Scar desired an heir he chose Zira
Not because he loved her
But because of her blind loyalty to him
His lack of love was shone the day Nuka was born
As he rejected the scrawny cub and blamed his mate
Zira shunned the cub as well
She tried to prove to her mate her true worth
She kidnapped two young cubs from a rogue
And claimed them as hers
Scar had little use for Vitani
Though he was glad to get a future huntress
But Kovu suited his needs perfectly
Kovu was in much better shape than Nuka had been when he had been born
Not to mention he shared many similarities with his adoptive father
But Zira's dreams were shattered
When Simba reclaimed the throne and had a son of his own
Though Zira was allowed to stay, her blood boiled more with each passing day
She murdered Prince Kopa when he had just started to grow a mane
Her family and followers were exiled soon after
But that lick of revenge wasn't enough
Revenge was too sweet for Zira not to want more
She gave Nuka the cold shoulder
As Kovu and Vitani were trained vigorously
Zira's plans for Kovu were shattered too
He betrayed her for the love of her enemy's daughter
She began to realize her failure when Nuka died
But she shoved the blame on Kovu
She refused to forgive Simba even when her friends and family did
She'd rather die than forgive
But if she meets up with Scar in death
And realizes he merely used her as a pawn
She may redeem herself yet
By loving her cub and adopted cubs
As they almost never had been during her life
