TIME: Sometime before knowledge of the three wraith hive ships.

Doctor Weir stepped into Major Sheppard's office. She needed to find some papers concerning yesterday's briefing of the last trip through the gate. As always, Elizabeth was amazed at John's apparent lack of organization. But, he was off-world again at the moment, so she would have to find the files herself.

She did her best to look with out disturbing anything. On his desk, she found a tape recorder.

"Maybe he has some of the information on the tape?" she asked herself while turning it on.

Major John Sheppard's voice filled the room. "Hi, My name is Major John Sheppard. I've just returned from our first mission through the stargate, and for stress relief I'm supposed to write the events in a diary thing, but I suck at writing, so I'm going to do it on tape. Okay, here goes."

Realizing what it was, Weir tried to shut it off, but the stop switch wouldn't function. She didn't want to pry, but if it on, she might as well listen…

Elizabeth listened to Sheppard talk about the last few missions, but then it slipped into something else.

"I'm not entirely sure if I should put this on a tape that any old person could just walk up and play, but I might as well. Here goes. I wish Dad were here for me to talk to about this. He was always so good with advice. Heck, I wish he were alive. I wish I could ask him, is it right to love a woman who's already married. I think he'd say that it depends on the circumstance. I'm not sure if this situation would fit into his 'circumstances', but… Well, that's just it. But."

"I just can't help it. I'm so confused. I don't know what to feel, or what to think. Is this right? Is this wrong? I wish I could just figure this out. But no time to do that now. I have a meeting in about ten minutes, so I guess I better start getting there."

The recorder buzzed off. Elizabeth was left sitting there confused and alone. She didn't know what to feel either. She knew that in the back of her mind, she had felt the same way. Confused and not sure if what she felt was morally right.

She sat in his office and waited for him. After somewhere around an hour, she heard a key jiggle the lock and the door swung open.

"Oh, did I get a new secretary? That's cool!" Then he saw the tape recorder laying on the desk, out of place. "Elizabe-"

She stood up and interrupted him. "John, we need to talk."
