The Wind Fish
Prologue
Link instantly regretted his decision to sail to Holodrum as soon as he saw the darkening clouds overhead. When he had left the harbor at Hyrule earlier that day, the skies had been clear and the seas had been calm. There had been no trace of a storm at all. Link groaned when he felt the first raindrop hit his head. He steadied the sail of his small boat and braced himself for the imminent storm as the rain began to fall.
For a minute it almost seemed like the storm would pass the ship by; the rain lessened and the sun peeked out from behind the clouds. Link relaxed and walked to the edge of his boat. But suddenly the sun vanished, the clouds thickened, and the sky opened up in a downpour of torrential rain. Thunder, lightning, and raging winds stirred up the ocean waters, which in turn buffeted the ship, knocking Link off his feet. Water spewed onto the ship, soaking every part of the wood and Link. Link sputtered and coughed up salty sea water and tried to stand up. He easily managed this because the winds had grown so intense that Link was lifted into the air and tossed about the ship. Then the whole sky lit up with a flash of lightning, and there was a splintering snap as the mast of the ship broke in two. The last thing Link could remember of the storm was being thrown into the ocean by a massive wave.
