Beneath the Shadows
Chapter 1: It was a cold and dreary October night. There was a full moon over looking the pavement, casting shadows on the blackened ground. The air was rather crisp making the hair on the back of my neck stand up like a gravestone in a graveyard. As I sat on the front porch of my small town house, I could see the faint outline of something lurking in the distance.
My name is Dakota Knight. I am a 15-year-old boy, with jet-black hair and piercing blue eyes. I live at home with my mother and father, and my little brother, Devin. But I am not you're average 15 year old; I hold a secret with-in me. A great and powerful secret that no one can ever know. At night, I venture out on my own and become something that is totally oblivious to the human eye.
This night, I will venture out again. I will become the one that has been forever hidden inside. I will be the inescapable, never out-run, "beast" that I have been for the last three years. However, the ever so harshly portrayed versions brought to life are vaguely what I really am. I am not the man eating, malevolent creature that you see on the movie screen, I am actually something quite different then what is to be presumed. I am a gentile and noble creature, never would I hurt a human being on purpose unless it was to protect myself from harm.
And as I sat alone on my porch looking out into the night, I saw the creature that looked somewhat like a man, standing in the florescent light of the lamppost, watching my every move. His name is Gilbert, Ryan Gilbert to be precise. He has been chasing me down since day one, never giving me a break.
He is a stone cold, heartless man, and has been hunting me these past three years. Little does he know; I enjoy playing this little game of ours. As I watched him stalking me, I realized this was my chance to end this deep, dark, game that had been going on for to long. I sauntered my way over, time feeling like it was going in slow motion. As I stood before him, I saw who he really was: the man who was foreseeing to expose my secret. He was the man who could shatter my world forever, ending my attempts to keep myself invisible from all humanity.
But as I approached the man that had been haunting my sleepless nights for countless seasons, he vanished into thin air, laughing in a ghoulish tone as he dispersed from the scene. "Dammit!" I muttered as I came to the spot at which the older fellow was last standing, "he got away, yet again and this time much quicker than the last." Then a sharp, high-pitched symphony of sounds began ringing through my ears dropping me to my knees in agony. Every time I'd try to stand back up the tones would become louder to the point that my ears felt like they were bleeding. My head began to pound, my vision began to blur; I was beginning to feel like I was on the verge of death when there was a flash of light and everything around me went into complete and utter darkness.
