Title: Talking Over

Rating: K

Summary: Chryed are back together but they have a lot to talk through.

So EastEnders gave us the "reunion" which wasn't up to standard at all. Which isn't a surprise really since they don't seem to value Chryed at all. So I thought I'd do this little fic to explore what might have happened after their final scene.

Christian tentatively took Syed's hand in his and looked into his eyes. In them he saw everything he'd been missing for the past few weeks. Love, trust, companionship, friendship, passion, truth. Syed offered him a small smile and tugged on his hand, leading him back to Christian's flat. Christian unlocked the door and Syed loitered outside the doorway.

"Sy?" Christian turned back to Syed with a questioning look on his face. Syed pushed past him and sat on the edge of the sofa, looking like a rabbit caught in the headlights.

"I just need a minute, Christian," Syed fixed him with pleading eyes.

"Don't do this to me, Sy. Not again." Christian sighed and leant his weight against the countertop, his back to Syed. "Make a decision and stick to it this time, Sy. I can't play games anymore, and I can't go back to the way things were two years ago. It's her or me, Sy. I can't sit here and watch you play happy families again, Syed. I -" His words were cut off as Syed wrapped his hands tentatively around his waist, pressing a soft, chaste kiss to the back of his neck.

"We're not going back to that, Christian. I promise. I meant everything I said in the restaurant. I want to be with you, I want to marry you. I don't care about how hurt Amira is, I don't care if Qadim comes after me, I don't care if I have to fight to get my daughter back in my life. I lost sight of what was important, but what happened yesterday made me realise that nothing is more important to me than you." Syed turned Christian to face him, staring into his eyes as if her were a blind man staring at the sun for the first time. "We've both been miserable these last few months, Christian. But I was too scared that you'd reject me again to try to win you back. I've been an idiot, and I'm sorry."

"Sy.." Christion pushed the hair out of Syed's eyes and left his hand linger on his cheek. "I can't go through all of this again. One last chance, Sy. My heart's still broken, Sy. I pretended it was mended, but really I'd just taped it together again. If you have even the slightest bit of doubt, please leave now, Sy. I'd rather lose you forever right now than go through all of this again in a few months."

"What have I done to you?" Syed asked, gently touching the back of Christian's neck with the tips of his fingers. "You really don't trust me anymore, do you?"

"I will, Sy. In time. This is gonna be hard, and it's gonna take a lot of work. But I'm willing to give this one more chance to work out. If you are."

"I am, Christian. I promise you, I won't do anything to mess this up again." Syed gently took Christian's hands in his and held on as though his life depended on it. "I love you, Christian. I can't cope another day without you in my life. And as soon as my divorce comes through, I intend to marry you."

Syed touched Christian's lips tentatively with his own. Half of him scared that Christian would pull away, half of him scared that he wouldn't. Because he needed to collect some things from next door, and he couldn't bare to do that if Christian kissed him back right now.

"I love you too, Sy."

Both knew it was going to be hard, but both knew that they would do everything they could to make it work. They had one last chance to be together, and neither wanted to be the one to cause it to end.
