An AU drabble from NG-H!
The mystery girl in the story could be anyone.
I own nothing but the story concept and the story itself.
Foggy Glasses
Nerdgirl-Hime
Nuju loved to study the future. On clear nights, he would sit at his observatory window or on his roof with a telescope, staring at the stars. He loved the stars, they stated the future so clearly, he always knew what would happen.
He was one of those people that liked to know what was coming next. Call him over-anticipating, but he always took it hard when taken by surprise.
Which was why he could never fall in love.
Yet he did. And when he did, he took it worse than a punch to the gut. She was a pretty girl, with an unpredictable quality that would have repulsed him, yet he found himself deeply attracted to her. He kept waiting for more and driving himself nuts trying to predict her every move.
She was like the steamy morning bathroom that fogged up his glasses when he stepped out of the shower. He would be totally exposed in a place that took away his vision.
"Yo." She popped up unexpectedly in front of his face, breathing her warm breath in his glasses.
Nuju took off his eyewear and wiped off the fog. "Hi."
"Let's go on a date." She said abruptly, hands on her hips. "We haven't been on one in ages."
Nuju smiled, replacing his glasses. "All right."
"Do you want to name the place or should I?"
Nuju looked up in thought. His spontaneous sweetheart was probably going to say that she wanted to go to the Le-Metru Moto-Hub, because she liked to watch the fast-paced innovative vehicles get crash-tested. Grinning, he looked back at his girlfriend, prepared to thwart her impulsiveness.
"How about the Moto-Hub?" Nuju said. He was certain she would agree.
"I was thinking that we could go for a walk near the canals in Ga-Metru." She said shyly. "But if you really want to go to the Moto-Hub, then sure."
Nuju gaped. Again, he had been taken by surprise. Shaking his head to snap out of it, he asked, "Not that I mind quiet canal walks, but why would you... What makes you want to do that?"
"Just a little change of pace." She replied. "I'll see you tonight." She turned and left, flashing a smile that made his heart drum a mad beat against his ribcage. Stopping, she yelled over her shoulder, "Seven o'clock, pick me up! I love you!" She continued to skip away, hair bouncing behind her.
Nuju ran a hand through his own silver tresses and sighed. Maybe it was best to leave the fog on his glasses and let life surprise him once in a while.
