Third Person POV

Bree ducked, not for the first time today, as Marcus threw punch after punch at her. Her thoughts reverted to Chase, who was hanging precariously by the handrail.

In her moment of distraction Marcus caught her in the stomach with an uppercut, knocking the wind out of her and sent her careening into the walkway railing. It was not a good day to be her.

Adam, was laying sprawled out on the floor below the walkway, and Chase dangling off of it. The bionic superhumans seemed to be done for.

Bree POV

Me, Adam and Chase were now closer than ever before. I think that going through a near death experience really took a toll on us, but really gave us the strength to keep going and the faith in each other. Wow, that sounded cheesy, even for me.

With the defeat of Marcus, Mr. Davenport gave us the entire day off, something that had never happened before. I, myself, did not know what to do, because I never had the entire day to myself before, there was always school, training, or the threat of imminent death hanging over my head. Chase, on the other hand, did have an idea.

Just your friendly neighborhood line break :D-

We got to the carnival. As it turned out Mr. Davenport's bike, was incredibly fast, so there was no need for me to run there, but they were so expensive and hard to make, he only had two, so if I didn't want to run I had to sit with either Adam or Chase.

I want to say I made a smart choice, and just ran there, but, I was way too lazy after the battle we had just won.

I ended up deciding that Adam was way too reckless and the ride would most likely end with me getting thrown off the bike in the middle of nowhere, that's Adam for you.

Chase, I thought, would be easier to ride with because he was always a bit more rational that any of us, myself included, turns out I was wrong.

Just a line :D-

Chase, had wanted to repay me for all those times that he had to ride, hands around me, helpless, as I sped away with him on my back, so, he did the natural thing, He went as fast as the bike could take him, and I had to wrap my arms around him to stay on the bike, or at least that was my excuse.

In reality, I had found that Chase, with age, was becoming more and more attractive, while Adam was still the lumbering giant that he always was, and as much as we made fun of Chase for not getting a girlfriend, he did have several female admirers already.

Chase's body became more toned, but not in an Adam way, he had a flat stomach, but not crazy abs. He also made an effort to do increasingly well in gym, the one subject he did not see the point in.

At this point, he was actually quite good in gym, and I began to see why girls in the school started to like him. I mean, athletic and the smartest human being in the entire world? When the heck were you going to get a second chance at that? Adam, too, we discovered, was not dumb. He acted like it and made jokes a lot, but in combat, he was calculating, at leas point where he knows how hard to hit his opponent to make them fly into the nearest wall or lamp post.

I, i seemed, was the only one who was staying the same. No matter how many times Chase and the others told me I was pretty, I really didn't believe them, because guys would never approach me, and I didn't know why. I was trying to be nice, I was pretty good in gym, and had pretty good grades, I wasn't labeled as a nerd, so why wasn't at least one guy asking me out that wasn't obsessed with something in a crazy way, or evil?
