When first she was buried
The world was still young
It cried with the scent of blood
Humans not yet civilized
Her people lived apart from the others
And it never was so slow
As when she was beneath the ground

She watched the huts melt away to houses

She watched the forest be burned back

We're half way through now
And a train runs over her head
Always on time
Right a 4:00 and 5:30
It passes above her
No more gravestone for her
She once had one

She's watched the world pass her by
And when the world stops
It won't stop for her
She's already escaped it
She's just sleeping on

She's not gone

And she deserves
Every wink that she gets
