Nico is hopelessly love sick. That doesn't fit his job description, he is the Ghost King, not a romantic. But when it came to Will, exceptions can be made.
"My only sunshine"
Nico finally gathered enough courage to ask Will Solace out. He didn't think anybody would want to date the broken and depressed son of Hades but Will was more than eager. They're first date was a picnic, and it made Nico the happiest he had been in a while.
"You make me happy when skies are gray"
They had been dating for two years and Nico was hopelessly, irrevocably, endlessly in love. He loved Will more than anything in the world. And he would do anything for him.
"You'll never know dear, how much I love you"
Nico and Will were engaged and goddamn Nico was ecstatic. He finally felt wanted and for the first time in forever, he was happy. Truly happy. Nico would die for Will in second.
"Please don't take my sunshine away"
In the end, it wasn't a monster. Will didn't die. Will left. In the moments he was walking out the door Nico was screaming any pleading.
"Please, Will! I would die for you! Please don't go!" Nico sobbed.
"That's the thing, I wouldn't die for you," Will says, shaking his head.
As he leaves, Nico is sitting in a stunned silence. Will never loved him. Not really.
