Gauda Prime - From Avon's Side of the Rifle

"You look terrible," said the spirit Avon. Both he and Blake were waiting to be processed by TPTB after the debacle on Gauda Prime.

"Whose fault is that?" asked the spirit Blake. Blake's spirit body still showed the stains of the three bullet impacts.

"Oh come on Blake, you could hardly lay the whole blame of shooting you…"

"Three times."

"Yes, three times. You could hardly lay the whole blame on me. Would it have killed you to say six simple words?" asked Avon.

"What words could possibly have stopped you? You were so intent on killing me."

"'I did not betray you Avon' comes to mind. But no, you just had to say, 'I set this all up.' And 'Avon, I was waiting for YOU.' I had just asked you whether you had betrayed me for godsake! In what universe would anyone not have interpreted what you said as an admission of guilt? I didn't shoot you until after you said that, if you remember."

"Well…"

"Even Anna knew I kill those who betray me."

"What? You killed Anna?"

"Oh. I forgot you weren't there for that. But that's a long story for another time, if we have it. Did you not find it strange that even Vila, who was behind me the entire time, did not stop me? He loved you Blake but he not say anything. At all? Even after I shot you the first time, and there was time to stop the other shots? Do you think that if he had any doubts about your betrayal, that he would have said SOMETHING?"

"I wasn't thinking."

"Yes, you never think. Well we have a lot of time to think now. To think what idiots we both were. But if it is worth anything, I am sorry I shot you. If I had know the truth, I never would have."

"That's good to know."
