So, I'm trying my hand at a Rizzoli & Isles story. It's only been four episodes so I don't think I have Jane's voice down yet, but I tried, so please don't judge too harshly.
There were two things in the world that Jane Rizzoli regretted most: not going to college and never having a real friend. The latter was more important, Jane thought, although she hadn't truly realized it until today.
When she was a child, she'd really been a tomboy. She'd spent recess playing baseball or basketball with the boys in her class and she'd had neither the time nor the use for dolls, dresses, princesses, and so on. Her bedroom was painted a navy blue and she came to school every day in jeans and a t-shirt. But while she was out at the park with them every day, playing soccer or tennis or just running around, she'd never had a real friend. Someone who she could talk with, laugh with, or just enjoy spending time with. Until now, she'd never before felt deprived because she'd never had this.
And then came Maura. The two were polar opposites and they were the most unlikely pair of friends you could ever hope to see. Maura was probably the smartest person Jane had ever met, and Jane had never even gone to college. Maura was brutally honest – even when she probably shouldn't be – and although it had bothered Jane at first, she'd come to find it rather endearing. Maura was attractive, but she could never get through a date with a guy because of her . . . well, her quirkiness. Jane had gotten used to her random trivia at the most inappropriate moments and her babbling about irrelevant, albeit interesting, topics. Jane sometimes wondered if there was anything that Maura didn't know.
Jane couldn't understand why Maura would want to be her friend, or even how it had came to be in the first place. But then, maybe Maura needed a friend too. She'd never had one before either.
They were fire and water, and yet, they were so good for each other.
I hope my first attempt wasn't too bad. Review and tell me!
