A/N: A PMMM flash bingo drabble fic, prompt 200; Sayaka/Kyoko. Probably not how it was intended, but hey, my story, my rules.
When Kyoko fought, she fought to win. Eat or be eaten, that was the nature of the world. It wasn't some black and white playground where you could have all the answers conveniently provided. No, the world that she knew was a dangerous place, and if she wanted to survive in it, she had to fight to win.
So that was why she didn't feel bad, or have regret, as a blue gem shattered into a million splinters, glittering in the sun as they flew through the air and fell to the asphalt ground, like so many shattered dreams. It was joined with a concurrent thud, the former owner of the now broken gem dropping as well, eyes lifeless, outfit fading away to be replaced by normal clothes as her magic dispelled with her death, stained red by wounds that failed to heal now as her wish, and powers, died.
Kyoko sighed, turning around and giving the form no more attention as the girls pink haired friend rushed forward with a cry. "That wasn't worth my time," she said to no one in particular, hands resting on her hips.
It really hadn't. The girl, Sayaka or whatever, had had a bit of skill in there, but she was too inexperienced, and her insistence in fighting out of her league only ended up getting her killed. It was people like that that really annoyed Kyoko. They were dumb, operating on the belief that their principles meant anything, that somehow it would give them strength and help them survive, when they were just so much empty words. In the end you could only rely on yourself, and not silly principles. Principles wouldn't feed you, or put you up for the night, or bind your wounds. They were just words, that you used to make yourself feel good.
But she knew the truth. She'd seen it, lived it. And that was why that girl had had to die, before her stupidity got a lot more people hurt or killed. She didn't have the guts to do what she needed to do now that she was a magical girl, but Kyoko did. So she took what she wanted, what was rightfully hers. With that Sayaka kid gone, Mitakihara was her town, and she expected to profit by it. This wasn't some game, it was life. Her life. And she planned to keep living as long as she could.
"Hm, should I go find a witch to kill, make up for all the energy I wasted on that idiot, or should I go to the arcade? Decisions decisions," Kyoko said to herself as she departed, leaving behind a dead body, a fallen foe, and a stillborn friendship.
