"Now boarding train… Now boarding…"
The announcement was barely heard by a teen as he stepped through the open train door and took the nearest seat. He had earbuds on underneath the dark blue hood he kept over his head, the music nondescript to him. Just a way to keep him focused on something. His blue eyes scanned the rest of the train car he chose, near empty due to the time he'd chosen to board. Didn't matter, the other passengers would most likely be gone before he got to his destination.
The teen closed his eyes, and slept.
A barren wasteland with countless blades shaped like keys embedded into the earth no matter where he looked. Though it looked like the area worthy of a final battle, this was not where this clash was destined to happen. This he knew. His field of vision zoomed away from the wasteland, making the area smaller until he could see the world in its entirety. But from his point of view, the world seemed so…small.
"Are we really going to play this game again?" a feminine voice boomed. Delicate, but all-encompassing. "You lost handily last time, I recall."
"Hmph," a male voice, rough but just as encompassing. "My champions weren't prepared properly, I'd hardly call that round fair."
"Oh my, are you sulking?" the feminine voice responded, with a small laugh following. "Very well, we'll play again. This time we'll leave the results of the game as is. As the winner of the previous round, I believe I get to start with two pieces do I not?"
After a moment, he heard a sound he hadn't heard in a few years. The sound of game pieces touching a board.
A sharp inhale accompanied the swift opening of the teen's eyes. He stood up and removed his earbuds in a rush, a small bit of worry in his gut. He hadn't overslept and missed his stop had he? That be more munny down the drain if that was the case.
"We will be arriving to Twilight Town in five minutes. All passengers getting off, please be ready to disembark."
The teen let out a sigh of relief as he turned to face the door, left hand now grasping a rail while he waited to reach his stop.
Maybe he'd find what he was looking for in Twilight Town, the place with no day or night. A place of balance.
Guess who's back!? It's me, back from a long as heck hiatus of personal reasons. If you visit my profile, you'll notice most of my stories gone. The only ones I kept were the ones I plan on continuing. This story is a revamp of a ole favorite of mine from back in the day. The original Searching. I've cut down on a lot of the exposition of the original's prologue while also reworking the whole thing. I'm keeping the same basic elements, but reworking the plot and speed. Which means maybe also keeping the same main pairing. Still planning that one out. Bear with me. So, if you're a old fan or a new reader allow me to welcome you.
So welcome to Searching -ReMIX-
