Author's Note: Hey, guys, this my first Hellsing story, so please cut me a little slack. This is my opinion on Anderson, our dearly psychotic priest.
Father Alexander Anderson was dead tired. He was so exhausted he swore he could feel it in his bones. An absolute mass of FREAK vampires had appeared in a Spanish town. He had been sent to deal with it.
The problem?
He had been 'dealing with it' for the past six days with little to eat and almost no rest, certainly no sleep. He was surprised he could see straight he was so tired. To add to problems, his exhaustion was taking its toll, as he had to push himself more and more to catch the fast FREAKS. His body protested every movement and cried out for rest.
The Vatican sometimes forgot that though he was a regenerator with abilties, stamina, and endurance beyond any normal human he himself was still human and needed food, drink, and rest. He couldn't go forever, and he was near his breaking point.
For once he found himself wishing Hellsing would arrive and Alucard would take care of the remaining three vampires just so he could go home. His muddled, groggy senses took a moment to inform him that one of the vampires had spotted him and run for it. Groaning, he gave chase, his legs feeling like weights.
Unknown to the paladin, Hellsing was watching him. Alucard smirked.
"The Judas Priest won't last much longer, Police Girl."
Seras Victoria looked at her master.
"Master, shouldn't we go after the vampires, too."
"Not yet. Once Anderson breaks, we'll deal with them."
She sighed. Her master could be rather cruel sometimes. They had been watching Anderson for the past six days, or rather nights. It soon became obvious that, unlike them, the priest wasn't getting any rest and not much to eat since he hardly had time. These new vampires were somehow immune to the sun, so they attacked in the daytime as well, leaving no time for Anderson to have any kind of break save for a quick bite to eat, which he usually ended up not even finishing because they caused trouble while he was eating. She felt bad for him, even though he had tried on several occasions to kill her and her master. The poor man was on the verge of collapsing.
The Hellsing vampires followed Anderson once more, right out of town. The other two Freaks joined the chase.
"Ready your gun, Police Girl," Alucard said, pulling out the Jackal and Casull.
"Yes, Master," she said, readying the Harkonnen.
"He'll break any minute now."
Sure enough Anderson stumbled, nearly falling. He valiantly pushed on. Seras admired his spirit, and she Alucard did too.
His body screamed at him as he pushed himself. He couldn't go anymore. His body refused. Anderson fell, reminding both vampires of a mighty oak being felled. He hit the ground, sliding due to his momentum then lay still as his body shut down to get the rest it needed.
"Now, Police Girl."
They gave chase and took out the Freaks. Returning to Anderson, they found him out cold.
"Master, is he all right?"
"His body has forced him to rest. He'll be fine in a day or two with some food."
He lifted the priest and slung him over his shoulder.
"Time to go, Police Girl."
"Yes, Master."
They returned to priest to his hotel room, or rather Alucard led him in an undignified heap on the floor, and returned to Hellsing Manor. Anderson woke the next day wondering how he had gotten back into his room. He crawled into bed and sank back into the darkness of sleep. Regenerator he was, but he was still human.
