Johnny never understands most of what Reed Richards says. Reed always uses tons of big words, and he can babble on about some science experiment for hours. Heck, Johnny has to have his sister translate "Reed English" into "Regular People English".
Ben can understand a lot of what Reed says, but he could never speak it using all of those technological terms. In other words, Ben is useless at explaining what Reed says to anyone, but himself.
Then, there's Sue. Sue, can understand, translate, AND speak to Reed in terms that he used. Most people think that Reed is weird because of how scientifically he talks, but Sue won't have him any other way.
"Do you understand what the heck Reeds saying?" Johnny asks Ben.
"No. Not really," Ben replies, in his usual deep voice.
"Sucks to be you, Rock Brain!" Johnny laughs.
"Hey! You watch it!" Ben shoots back, as he hustles over to Johnny.
Johnny dashes over to a window and jumps. A faint "Flame on!" is heard from Johnny, as The Torch flies in front of the kitchen window, and sticks his tongue out at Ben.
"The Rapid Oxidation commences, anon," Reed comments from a chair, hardly looking up from his book.
"Huh?" Ben asks for clarification.
"Reed means, that Johnny's "torched", and is flying again," Sue explains, bending down to Reed's level, and kissing him.
"Then why didn't he just say so?" Ben asks.
"Not many people 'Speak Reed'," Johnny explains nonchalantly, appearing from the doorway.
