Another original Jay-Jay story written by Samantha613, this time it's "Herky's Surprise" Enjoy and comment.
Herky gets himself a brand-new hangar, close to his friends, but he didn't like it and wants his old one back. What can he do?
One day, Herky was busy delivering a crate of apples to Farmer Dale's orchard, and was making his way back, when he got a call on his radio.
"Hello Brenda.", Herky said.
"Hello Herky. What are you doing?" replied Brenda.
"I'm going back to Tarrytown." said Herky.
"That's good actually. Could you hurry back? There's a surprise for you.", said Brenda.
"It's not even my birthday, but I'll go there anyway.", Herky replied.
So Herky flew as fast as he could, back to Tarrytown Airport.
When Herky arrived back at Tarrytown Airport, he found a lovely surprise. There was a new hanger that was painted dull-gray, next to the hangar where Jay-jay and his friends were standing alongside from.
Herky was confused and surprised.
"What is it?" asked Herky.
"It's a new hanger given to you as a gift for all you've done for us." said Old Oscar.
Herky thanked everyone for his gift, and everyone seemed proud.
"Thank you, everyone.", Herky said.
"Why don't you look around it and see if you like it?" Brenda suggested..
Herky agreed and looked around, but a few minutes later, he was making a sour face.
"It's too big and too wide.", Herky complained.
This made everyone very disappointed, because they thought he was going to like it.
Herky thought it's unfair that his old hangar was taken away from him. He wanted his old one back.
"I'm sure you like it.", Jay-Jay said for him.
But Herky still didn't like it.
The next day, Old Oscar was feeling unwell and had to stay in the workshop for a while. So while Brenda checked him over, Old Oscar slept. And beside the workshop was a crate of old parts Old Oscar was supposed to take.
Herky still didn't seem to like his new hanger, so he attempts to deliver the crate by himself.
"I can deliver this.", Herky said.
He nearly had the crate hovering under him, but then it happened. The crate snapped loudly and it fell from the sky, falling with a loud BANG to the ground.
Old Oscar was very angry, and poor Herky sped off to the lake, before anyone saw what he was doing.
When Herky arrived at the lake, he looked at his reflection in the water.
"I just can't used to my new hanger, I like my old one.", he thought.
The more gloomier the reflection was, the more sadder Herky got. It almost reached it's level when a tear started sliding down his face.
Luckily, Jay-Jay and Tracy found him and asked him what's wrong.
"What's wrong?", they asked.
Herky explained what happened at the hanger. Jay-Jay told him gently that it's okay to be scared of new things, as he and Tracy were when they were little.
Tracy told the same story too.
"Let's go back, it's getting dark.", suggested Tracy.
By the time they came back, it was dark. Tracy tells Herky to look at the hanger in front of them and the one next to them and see the idea.
So Herky did, and then he realized that he can be much closer to his friends and he thinks he will appreciate being near his friends.
Everyone cheered!
Now everyone was glad Herky loved his present.
"I like this new gift. It's from my friends.", Herky said.
And that night, Herky fell quietly asleep, feeling quite comfortable, now knowing that he will be scared of new things, but he will always get used to them, and appreciate one's gift and love, and that he will sleep next-door to his friend.
