This is a one-shot about Gothel's thoughts as she kidnapped Rapunzel from her crib.

Enjoy.

Gothel had one ambition as she snuck in the palace: To become young again. She had become angry and devastated when the magical flower was taken away. As a result, she was withered and old. However, she thought that the little princess might have the same kind of power as the flower did, as the flower was used to heal the queen.

As she snuck in the king and queen's bedroom, she eyed the sleeping couple cautiously as she quietly snuck towards the crib. Seeing the one year old princess, Gothel started singing the Healing Incantation. The hair glowed, as Gothel took a strand of it in her fingers.

"Let your power shine", she sang triumphantly, as she noticed that she was young again. She took out her scissors and cut the strand as she sang, but she stopped and gasped as the strand stopped glowing. She dropped the strand of hair, and she watched in shock as a lock from which she cut that piece of hair turned brown. Gothel had turned into a old lady again.

Mother Gothel started to panic. She was going to die soon without the hair's healing powers. A coffin flashed in her mind. She didn't want to die. Then, she thought of something.

She will take the girl with her and raise her as her own, but was she will she be able to do it? She couldn't bear to be old but she also dreamed of raising a daughter, yet Mother Gothel's reason would be selfish.

Trying to not make any noise, Mother Gothel gently took the baby from her crib and took the blanket that was in the crib. As soon as she wrapped baby Rapunzel in the blanket, the baby started crying.

Gothel raced to the window and before she left the castle, she gave one last look at the king and queen, who had awaken due to the baby's cries.

Gothel went to her cottage, carefully in fear of being followed by the palace guard. As she entered her home, she went to her room, and gently laid the baby on her bed, where she sang the healing incantation and Gothel's youth became restored.

However, knowing that she had to sooth a child that wasn't her own, Gothel said to one year old Rapunzel gently, "Mommy's here, my flower. Mother will protect you".

As she put Rapunzel to sleep and as she herself went to bed, Gothel was thinking what to do. She had to move, as the kingdom would be looking for the baby and two, she couldn't cut the girl's hair, as it would lose it's power.

For seventeen years, Gothel would raise Rapunzel in a tower. For seventeen years, she would watch her grow up. For seventeen years, she would lie about the outside world. For seventeen years, she would use Rapunzel's hair to keep herself young. For seventeen years, she would tell Rapunzel that Mother Knows Best.

Mother Gothel could never guess that Rapunzel would find out the truth, on her eighteenth birthday.

I hope this is good, as I did it out of boredom.
