The sand blew furiously, the taint of magic in the air giving an ominous foreboding that something drastic was going to happen. Ganondorf passed out on the desert dune, letting himself get slashed at by tiny sand grains as sharp as knives. It was not out of inherent weakness that he gave out, but being stuck in the treacherous desert and severe dehydration had finally taken its toll on the mighty Ganondorf…
When he next regained consciousness, he found himself on soft cushions and in the shade of a tent. A gentle voice murmured to him, helping him drink a goblet filled with the sweetest water to have ever passed his lips.
"Slowly, you'll end up vomiting that all up if you gulp it all at one go." Green eyes swam into his view as Ganondorf focused on the girl helping him.
"Your highness," her servant called to her. "You are needed at the council."
"I'm coming." So the girl is royalty, Ganondorf thought, amused by how she tucked a strand of her auburn hair behind her ear in an irritated manner. "Watch over the patient and see to it that he receives everything he needs to feel comfortable," the girl instructed as she left the tent, glancing back at him as if to reassure him.
That left him free to ponder on his state. The last thing he remembered was embracing death as the sandstorm engulfed him. Somehow, he had ended up here. He dug his heel in to confirm that underneath the rug of this tent was indeed, soft desert sand. Ganondorf let the sand trickle through his fingers as he stared in disbelief. He remembered being in the Gerudo desert when the sandstorm took him by surprise. Not only that, but somehow the King of Gerudo had gotten lost in what should have been familiar territory to him.
It was not until Ganondorf had dozed for some time and had a meal before he saw the girl again, this time accompanied by servants.
"I am Her Royal Highness, Princess Daisy, leader of Sarasaland. I have found you unconscious and barely alive from severe sunstroke and not a few scratches from a sandstorm," the princess said.
"How did you know about my condition?" he asked.
"Oh, those cases are not uncommon. I am after all, the ruler of a desert country, where sandstorms may happen without warning. Many with weak dispositions also suffer from sunstroke so there is nothing to be ashamed of." Ganondorf felt affronted that the princess viewed him as one with a weak disposition. He snorted, the Gerudo were the toughest warriors there were and here he was being patronized by one named after a dainty flower, no less.
"And you are?" she asked.
"Ganondorf. King of the Gerudo desert."
