Henry Mitchell sat frozen, staring at his computer screen, his wife Paige Matthews casually approached him. "Emma Swan, who is she?" she asked Henry who couldn't take his eyes off the unopened e-mail from EmmaSwan82's Gmail account.
Henry paused, not knowing how to explain to his wife what happened on that night in Phoenix almost eleven years ago. "We were in the system together," he replied, "She was my little sister, and some other things. We lived with each other on and off at various times when I was growing up." He paused, as Paige contemplated what life in the foster care system must have been like. "There was always a connection between us because both of us truly didn't know who our parents were. When you are in the system, you encounter kids from all sorts of messed up backgrounds, but most people know who their folks are. Their parents may be drug addicts, they may be mentally ill, but at least they knew where they came from. With me and Emma, we didn't and it kept us together as friends. When she aged out of the system on her eighteenth birthday I was a rookie I took her in. One night something happened to one of the officers on the force," he paused. "we did some things we shouldn't have and she was gone the next day." He paused again unhappy look on his face, "I saw her once a few years later, tried to say something to her but she left before I had a chance to speak to her."
"You did it with her," asked Paige,
Her husband nodded, then answered. "A friend of mine heard rumors."
"She was pregnant," his wife interrupted, a hint of anger and shock in her voice.
"Yes, I've wanted to contact her, but whenever I tried to track her down, she would never return my calls. I've heard she is a bail enforcement agent in the Northeast, but that is all I've known until today."
"You may have a son, and you have never told me."
"Believe me it has been on my mind for the past ten years, I never knew how to explain it."
