"Is it normal to be nervous?" I said aloud, not on purpose since I hadn't intended for a response. However I clearly heard Clay mumble from the other side of the bathroom door no, your the first ever bride to have wedding jitters. Christ Savannah.
"Come out and I'll zip up your dress." Called Elena, laughing. I adjusted my hair one last time then opened the door and stepped carefully out, trying not to trip over the bottom of the dress. I looked up at Elena who's blue eyes had gone wide, I swear I heard her squeal a little and I knew she was enjoying this more than she let on. But I also knew she'd never admit it. Elena gently zipped the dress and spun me towards a tall mirror beside where Clay had mad himself comfortable in a wooden chair.
My perfectly filled in eyebrows rose. I could officially say I'd never looked better in my life. My hair was loosely pulled back into a low bun, two pieces of waved black hair framed my face. A major change from its normal straight and down look. The dress. To be honest I hadn't seen it until half an hour ago, I'd left Jaime and Paige in charge of the dress since I'd be likely to pick out a white cocktail dress not a wedding dress. Clearly it had been the right decision. The dress was simple, with a sheer lace neck line and long sleeves, a lace bodice that stopped at the middle, cut off by a white sash then continued with a plain white skirt that fell all the way to the floor and even dragged some. Which would be fixed by shoes noted Elena.
"So," I said. "Ultimate test. Clay, how do I look?" Behind me Elena tried not to grin as his face scrunched up as he tried to think of an appropriate response.
"Beautiful." He grumbled finally.
Elena let out a whoop of surprised laughter. "Clayton Danvers did I hear you actually just compliment someone?"
Clay frowned at her amusement, "Well she needed it, the girl looks like she's about to piss herself."
A knock on the door stifled them and Sean's voice wafted through, "All clear for Bryce and I?"
"Yup." I called.
The door pushed open and Bryce and Sean stepped in. Both stared at me for a moment, clearly surprised by the transformation of leather jackets and motorcycles to floor length white gowns.
Bryce was the first to recover. "Who are you and what have done with my sister because even on her wedding day it's not physically possible for her to look this good." Despite the fact Bryce had just-sort of?-insulted me I smiled, remembering that not too long ago he had refused to acknowledge I was related to him in any way. But then I saved his ass.
Sean elbowed him. "He means you look incredible."
I shot them both a thank you grin and Elena handed me a pair of three inch white heels.
"Let's go. You guys have to walk me down an isle." Clay and Elena headed downstairs to prepare Kate, my flower girl and Logan the ring boy while my brothers lead me outside of stone haven and to the edge of the forest where white fabric had been laid down over top of a temporary wood pathway. One that would lead to a clearing. To Adam.
Kate and Logan appeared beside us and we watched as her parents headed to go find their seats. A minute later music began to play and the twins started to walk forward.
Sean linked his arm with mine. "Last chance to run." He whispered.
I smiled. "Why would I run? I've been waiting for this day since I've been twelve."
Bryce took my other arm. "Well then come on Savannah Vasic."
