Alrighty people, I'm sorry, I've got a confession to make. I haven't watched the first movie. I've only watched Return to Halloween Town, and so Ethan and Marnie are new characters to me. This fic will be totally based on their behavior and personality in the second movie, please forget all stuff you know about them from the first. : D kay? Thank you all and enjoy the fic. Oh yeah, I don't own anyone. Please don't sue me.

This fic is supposedly what Marnie thought between the time Ethan told her he'd given up his powers, and the time she walked up to him and said 'hey'. It sounds ridiculous but for plot purposes, accept it.

I was surprised. By everything, my personal choice, my personal desire, my mum, my friends, and by Ethan. But probably most by Ethan. I wasn't expecting it. I mean, fine, since day one he was cute. He wasn't just cute, he was sweet. Like, which girl wouldn't like him? Fine, I admit, I did kind of drool when I saw him. But nothing more. Strictly off limits.

But then, he started talking to me. Not just about guy stuff, but about me. When I think of it, he never mentioned any guy stuff. And well, damn it, he's patient. I've never bothered to listen to him. Somehow he found the patience to listen to me, even when I was being a total bitch. He's gone out of his way to be sweet, like that broom ride and stuff. And even when I ditched our, let's face it; it was a date, he didn't get pissed.

When he told me that he'd given up his powers, and that's why he couldn't help me, I was split in two. One side of me wasn't surprised. I mean, it's totally in character for him to do something so noble. The other side of me was fuming. Not at him, at me. I mean, look at all of the times he's obviously tried to tell me. I couldn't believe he'd been there for me, and I'd ignored him. I felt horrible.

Anyhow, judging by the way he walked off when he confessed this so called tragedy to me, it was a big deal. I didn't think so, but to him, it was. By this time, I'm assuming you'll know I'm gaga over him. Forgive the rudimentary language. I had to do something. I just had to.

Well, this is when I change the mode of writing from first party to third/second party. Cool? Anyways, REVIEW!!

Love,

Lady Merlin
