Prologue
"There's no time for playing." my mother would always say. "Only time for learning." she would say. "Don't talk with your mouth full with food." she'd say. She was real strict. All she cared about was making my sister and me lady like and great future wives for nice men. I've never really had fun. We'd always have to work on our grammar and the proper way to sit and things like that. She'd sometimes let us play with the other children, but that was really rare.
The only real time when we really got to socialize was when we went to the tons of parties and balls in London. But that wasn't any fun because they were usually spent listening to our parents talk business with other parents.
So you see I've never really had a childhood. I've never really just got to let loose and have fun. But who knew that would change when my family and I moved to Brooklyn, New York.

Chapter 1
It's our first week in Brooklyn and I've yet to find anything of interest. All there is, is people. And those people are nothing like the people in England.
It was a Saturday afternoon and I was in my room reading. My mother suddenly came in and said, "Wendy, dear, our neighbor, Mrs. Smith said her daughter has promised to give you and your sister a tour around here. I said you would be more then happy to go. So she should be here in a little while." Mother said. "Yes ma'am." I said.
I closed the book I was reading and went down the stairs. I saw my 11 year-old sister, Rachel, in the living room. I sat down right next to her.
"Are you happy about us moving here?" I asked her.
"Yes. Maybe mom will loosen up a bit." She said smiling.
"Hopefully." I said.
We heard a knock on the door. It must be the neighbor's daughter. I walked over to the door.
When I opened it, I saw in front of me, a tall, blond haired, green- eyed girl with a big smile. "Hello. My name's Ellie Smith. Nice to meet you." She said putting her hand out.
"Nice to meet you, too. My name is Wendy Adams." I said shaking her hand. "And my name's Rachel." My sister said.
"Great to meet you." Ellie said happily. "Let's go. There won't be a place in Brooklyn that you won't see." She said turning around and walking away. Rachel and I looked at each other, and then followed after Ellie.
