Jessi was excited as she waited for Kyle to wake up. It had taken her quite a few hours of the night but she made it just in time .She saw him finally coming out of his room and managed to catch him right before he entered the bathroom

"Kyle" hearing the sound of her voice he quickly turned around and greeted her with a wide smile

"Good Morning Jessi. How are you?"

"I wanted to give you something" she said excitedly and carefully handed it to him

"It's a …. martenitsa" he said quickly recognizing it from his knowledge of world cultures" Thank you Jessi. It's wonderful"

He marveled at her creation. She had shaped the traditional red and white figures with such skill as sophistication that they almost looked like them. He smiled as he saw them holding hands and the tiny stitches showing a red xx on the female figure and the white xy on the male one.

"I am glad you like it Kyle" said a beaming Jessi" After your finished do you want to come to my room and make some more for the family?"

"I would love to Jessi" said Kyle who was already planning on doing something special for Jessi. And for the Trager of course

"See you in a bit" but just as Jessi was about go downstairs Kyle stopped her

"Happy Baba Marta Jessi" he said hugging her

"Happy Baba Marta Kyle" she whispered enjoying the closeness between them

I am guessing most of you are a bit confused. It's about Baba Marta day. It's celebrated on the 1st or March and the tradition involves that you give a martenitsa a small adornment made from white and red yarn (or other materials involving red and white) to all your loved ones. It's had a deep symbolic meaning and is a way to wish for good health. The red symbolizes life and passion while the white is a symbol of purity and soul. It's a really wonderful holiday that's very close to my heart and I would have loved to see Jessi and Kyle sharing it. You can learn more about it here( the site doesn't seem to let me posts links to Wikipedia so just type Martenitsa in Google)

I urge you all to try and make a martenitsa for your loved ones as well. It's a really fun and nice thing to do

Happy Baba Marta everybody :)
