Navi floated in circles around her friend, Link's head. She was chanting over and over, "Hey! Listen, Link! Hey! HEY! LINK!" and she could tell that he was on the breaking point. Link began to walk faster, towards Kakariko Village. Navi followed loyally – and annoyingly – beside her partner. She stopped for a second with her banter to watch the sun rise, and Link made a mad dash for the stairs.

Floating effortlessly, she was back beside him in mere seconds. Link heaved a sigh and said, "What is it, Navi?"

Navi smiled, "We should go to death mountain, Link!" she cheered.

He shook his head, "Maybe later. I want to go fishing when I'm done here." then continued up the steps to Kakariko Village. Navi followed more slowly behind him, feeling a little offended. Link waked on in front of her, wanting to get to the Cucco Girl to tell her about her brother in the Lost Woods.

Link continued to walk, unaware that the small blue fairy had sped off towards the other side of the Village. He jumped up the steps two at a time and went over to the small pen made for cuccos. The lady there commented on how her brother must have been lonely, then went back to attending her small pocket egg, ignoring him.

Link turned and walked off, calling out to Navi, who didn't answer. Feeling confused, he lifted his hat and shook his head to see if Navi was there. She wasn't. Link began to worry, his fairy companion had never left like that. He searched around the Village, calling out to Navi, clutching his green hat.

Worried, her ran into an old man by accident. He apologized and continued on his search. Taking out his sword, he broke all the clay pots, in desperate search. But Navi was nowhere to be found. Link began to feel sad, thinking he would never find her.

Meanwhile, the fairy was floating above the windmill. She could see Link running around the Village, holding his green hat in his left hand. Navi wondered why he took it off. It was like a home to her, that hat. She sped down towards Link, who was leaning against the tree to the entrance of Kakariko Village. He had a solemn expression.

"Hey! Link!" Navi yelled. He looked up, with watery eyes. Spotting the little blue fairy, her scolded, "Where were you?" but Navi could see the relief in his gaze.

"Sorry," she said. "I went over to the windmill."

Link looked confused, "Why?"

Navi blushed, but you couldn't tell with the ball of bright light surrounding her. "I was angry at you for ignoring me."

Link looked down, felling ashamed. He didn't like that he had hurt his loyal fairy friend. Navi smiled at him, "Put your hat back on and lets go."

Link smiled back, putting his hat back on, "To Death Mountain?"

Navi flew up under his hat, sitting on top of his hair. "Sure! Unless. . . do you want to go fishing. . .?"

Link laughed, "Good idea." He walked off, with Navi messing up his hair under the hat.

Grinning to himself, he wondered what he would do without her.
