Fell in Love Once
"I fell in love with a boy once. I wonder if he still exists," said the girl. Gloves and muscle stretched back. She ran at him, screaming fury pouring from her cherry-red lips. The ground cracked beneath her feet.
The fleet-footed crow circled back, black eyes sharp, calculating, and critical. "Hn." He scoffed, smiled. His face went blank.
Her face bled anger. She pulled back again, swung forward, coiled and lashed out. He quietly slipped past her running knuckles. He felt no reason to draw his sword on her.
She yanked her fist out from the shattered earth, the leather on fingers already wearing away. Bleeding. He had the audacity to smirk. She went deathly silent.
This time, she sent him to the ground. His lips, chest, and elbow bruised purple and pain. She made contact again, and again, before he gripped her wrists, and sent her flying.
"Draw. Your. Sword." She hissed.
He did.
They flew at each other.
He slid the blade cleanly into her side. He felt the red against the ends of his fingers as he pulled it out. She winced, barely winced, before pressing a jolt of green to it. The cloth around the wound remained damaged, but the skin did not. He wouldn't care to say he was impressed.
He struck at her again, wasting no time because she had demanded it. Foolish girl.
"He doesn't," he said behind her ear. Her eyes darted to him; she tilted, and sent the side of her arm against the blunt side of his blade. Her other arm was cocked a second too slow. Her eyes narrowed like snakes.
"That boy you liked," he said, "doesn't exist anymore." He said it casually, unaffectedly, sadly.
Her lips thinned, tendons taut.
"You killed him."
She stepped quick, her knuckle connecting with the unbroken cheek. She grit her teeth and held back the second strike. He let her.
"I killed him." He smiled.
Faintly.
Rain against her cheeks. She screamed and aimed for the heart.
fin.
A/N: It's been a while since I've posted anything. I wanted to write something short so I could try to get back into the rhythm of things. Yes, it's 1 AM. I hope you liked it, though it's weird; so, no guarantees, right? Thank you for reading, and a have a pleasant day.
