Chapter 1
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather underneath the Highrock!"
I was bursting with excitement. My siblings, Nightkit and Streamkit, were wiggling beside me, too. "Isn't this great! We're going to be apprentices!" I said to my friend, Deerkit. She smiled at me.
"Today four kits will become apprentices. Honeykit, Deerkit, Nightkit, Streamkit, come forward." Larchstar leaped down. He continued with the ceremony, apprenticed Honeypaw with Eaglefeather, Deerpaw with Leaffrost, Nightpaw with Hailwhisker, and Streampaw with Willowclaw, the medicine cat.
"You're a medicine cat! Cool!" Deerpaw mewed. She turned to Leaffrost. "So, when are we going to start training?"
Leaffrost purred in amusement. "You and Honeypaw will train with us first thing tomorrow. Nightpaw and Streampaw, you should go ask your mentors."
I walked to my nest. Tomorrow I would start my training. Then, my life would get a lot more interesting, although I didn't know it yet...
