Preface
Melinda's POV
I was just sitting in my bedroom on a rainy Saturday afternoon when I felt it, someone significant had just died, and it was a tragedy, I knew it, I could almost taste death in the air.
I grabbed my cell phone and pressed the number two, my speed dial for Jim.
After a few rings a familiar voice answered in a reassuring 'Hello' that calmed my nerves, if only for a little bit.
"Hey honey, I was just sitting here and I felt something strange… do you have any new patents?" I asked quickly, trying to get to the point, I had an urgent feeling.
"Oh, yea… We just got a young boy, about fourteen or fifteen, suffered head trauma, punctured lung, and a broken leg. And some top information stuff that brought the FBI in here, I don't know if I'm aloud to tell you… Did you see a ghost honey? I'm afraid I'll have to work double shift tonight, because of the boy. I can meat you for lunch, I get the break at five."
I thought about all that he had said for a few seconds, 'And some top information stuff that brought the FBI in here, I don't know if I'm aloud to tell you…' If I know my own husband, then he would tell me anything, regardless of what the FBI said. There's only two reasons why my husband would be keeping this from me, a) the FBI are listening into the phone calls and are trying to keep outsiders from knowing about this, or b) it's so terrible of a case that even Jim doesn't want me to know. I personally think it's A.
My final answer: "Okay, see you in five." If I were right, if the FBI is listening into this conversation, they would only be half listening, and think I wasn't coming up for a surprise visit. My husband, on the other hand, would know that I didn't mean 'see you at five.'
We hung up and I stuffed the small devise inside my dress pocket. I slung my jade green coat on and stepped out of the house.
I was going to find out about this boy, whether the FBI will allow it or not.
Well, that's the Preface, next chap will be a little before this, in Max's POV, of Fang, of course.
