My heart was racing as fast as a jack hammer. My lungs were burning and I was becoming exhausted. It seemed that I had been running for eternity, though I didn't slow or break my stride. I wasn't running for recreation or for losing weight, I was running with a purpose. I was running for my life.
I glanced behind my shoulder. The dazzling man, with undeniably good looks and perfect muscles, had the same smirk he had when he started chasing me. I couldn't believe it, he looked as if he hadn't broken a sweat. In fact, he looked as if he was enjoying his graceful little jog. He was a cat playing with the mouse before he bit it. And he was one hungry cat.
Then it hit me. I hadn't one clue where I was in the maze of New York City. I was going deeper and deeper into the endless city maze. I would never out run this man, he looked like he was on an afternoon jog while I ran and ignored my lungs which felt like they had been strangled by boa constrictors.
I then turned a sharp corner and met my greatest fear, a dead end. I tried to scream, but my lungs were so exhausted from running, only a croak came out. Then he turned the corner.
I tried not to look scared, so I prepared my self to fight.
"What do you want?" I tried to call, but only a whisper managed out of my mouth.
Then he said something strange.
"I am hungry" He growled with sickening delight "It will happen fast and swiftly, you are a lucky one my friend"
That got me angry. I found the courage to snap at him.
"I am NOT your friend, creep!"
"You shouldn't have said that. I might change my mind. You see, Laila" How did he know my name? "All I want is your cherry sweet blood. I'm surprised someone like me hasn't already took you, I could smell your sweet scent from afar."
This made me tremble. I suddenly noticed his eyes. Red as flames.
"What are you?" I whispered with a trembling voice.
"I am your worst nightmare. I am a vampire, Laila." A wicked smile crept across his face. I could no longer talk, and I knew that the face I had just looked dead in the eye was the face I would always have nightmares about, if I ever had the chance to sleep again.
"Please..." I tried
"No begging, I am like a man who has starved for days and you are like a loaf of fresh bread, calling my name. Try to understand, we all must feed. Now enough talk. You're teasing me."
before I could say no, he was behind me.
"Mm..." He breathed.
That was all it took. My knees buckled, I fell to the ground, I silently prayed for myself and that this would go by quick and as painless as possible. I began to get dizzy and felt a cool trickle of something down my head. My vision became blurry.
Something sharp pierced my neck, and I screamed as far as my voice could carry. The pain was mind blowing. I had broken my leg before while ice skating, and this was ten times worse. I felt his poison going into my blood stream and felt my blood being sucked into his mouth.
Before I passed out, I thought I saw an angel running toward me, maybe carrying me to heaven. He was like the man currently killing me, yet beautiful in a totally different way. He had gleaming golden eyes and flawless face with perfect caramel hair. His white tee shirt and jeans seemed to come to life on his perfect muscular body hand crafted by The Lord himself. He was almost to me when I closed my eyes and escaped the pain. For now.
