Save Her

Disclaimer: I don't own Fairy Tail

I sat there in one of the least comfortable chairs I've ever had to sit in. My patience disappeared when I first stepped foot into the building at about 1:45 that day. I stared up at the clock. 2:14. I didn't want to be there, mostly because I thought I didn't need to be there. I was forced by him. He said that being there would help me. I doubted that. I was wearing Black and White striped legging under my favorite skirt. It was a light gray skirt with the suspenders that had lime green buckles. My shirt was a simple black long sleeve shirt that covered part of my knuckles. My hair was up in pigtails, letting my bangs cover most of the left side of my face.

"Hello and welcome to the Social Aid Group, my name is Amy…" I loathe that name. Amy. The last girl I knew named Amy pushed me down a flight of stairs because she didn't like the skirt I was wearing. I was eight at the time. Two years later we met again and I gave her a taste of her own medicine. Sadly, she lived.

"… So who would like to speak first? Anyone? It's okay to be shy." I rolled my eyes, sighing heavily. The woman pointed one of her stubby fingers at me with a sweet, yet obnoxious, grin. "Why don't you start?"

"Because don't want to be here." I stated. I had no reason to lie.

"Stand up and introduce yourself." I rolled my eyes again.

"Fine." I stood up and stretched out my arms. Amy sat down in the empty seat next to me. "Sup." I lightly waved at the circle of people with fake enthusiasm. "The name's Liz. My real first name was too girly. So I changed it. It didn't suit me anyway" I looked down at my black and white sneakers.

"Could you tell us what your real name was?" Amy asks, interested in the new found topic.

"My real name is-"I'm instantly interrupted by a painfully familiar voice.

"What up losers. What's happenin' today Aimster?" The young man walked into the room like he was the king of the world. My heart stopped and my breathing became unstable. Amy stood up and offered him the chair she was in.

"I'm glad you made it Sting." I rubbed my eyes in disbelief. The room started spinning. Suddenly he was standing only a few inches away.

"Well look who came to visit. I can see you dyed your hair" He gently tucked a lock of jet black hair behind my ear.

"Don't touch me." I stepped back.

"What's wrong Liz? Or should I say, Lucy. Cause that's your real name, isn't it?"

"Get away from me." I began to yell.

"Sting, let's not bug her okay? She's not use to being here." Amy added.

"But it's been so long since I've seen my girl."

"I'm not your girl anymore! You heartless prick! You abused me so why would you come back to you!?"

"You lying! You know that's not true!" The room became silent. There's two things I've never done and still refuse doing to this day. Those two things are breaking promises and lying.

"Did… Did you just call me a liar?" I spoke in a softer tone.

"I guess I did, didn't I." He remarked. That's when I lost it.

"So I'm the liar. Really now? Get the fuck out of my face you piece of shit." I threatened.

"Or what? You'll hit me?" He rolled his eyes at me.

"Ya. I will hit you."

"You wouldn't dare. You'd never hit m-" Within a second, my fist swiftly collided with the side of his face, giving him a bruised cheek and a bloody nose.

"No violence!" Amy shouted behind him but we didn't care to listen. He wiped the blood off his face before slapping my hard in the face. I heard the word "Slut" slip off his tongue.

"HEY! No violence!" She repeated.

"I'VE HAD ENOUGH YOU!"I kneed him in the stomach as hard as my body would let me, before smashing both my fists into his back. He fell to the floor without hesitation. "I never want to see your fucking face again. Cause I do, I might just rip it off." I casually walked out of the room of out of the building.

"You did what!?" He choked on his soda. "Are you serious?"

"Yup. Sting was a fucking asshole to me and everyone else he knew. He's just general an asshole." I was pissed off just by the thought of him.

"But Liz, you can't do things like this!" He protested.

"Well too late, I already did. Just deal with it." I stood up from the small table and walked towards the library exit. He quickly jumped in front of me, blocking my path. I could smell the faint scent of burning firewood. I liked it, but I wasn't about to admit that.

"Move over flame breath."

"Where do you think you going? You can't be trusted alone." That was true. I had a bad temper, my patience was very limited, an apparently I was prone to bad situations.

"I'm going home pinky." I rubbed my hand through his soft hair, messing it up. Pink locks spiking out randomly around his scalp.

"Seriously?" He groaned, fixing his hair.

"Ya Natsu. Seriously." I mocked. He gave me a pair of puppy eyes and a pout. Somehow, it was more than effective

"Fine." I sighed heavily, gripping the end of his scarf. I was almost dragging him out the door and down the street. "You can come with me. But only if you promise not to touch anything. And no more than 5 questions while we're there, got it?" He nodded with a smile as we crossed the street.

"Hurry up Felix! We're gonna be late!" A young girl jogged past us. A young man with dark red hair followed closely behind her. I dated a kid named Felix when I was twelve, but his mother drowned him in a public swimming pool a week later because some other kid broke his glasses.

I pulled my house key out of my pocket and unlocked the door. I waited for Natsu to enter before I shut the door. I turned to remind him not to touch anything, but he was gone. For some reason, I panicked. I quickly headed into my bedroom. He wasn't there. I sighed in relieve.

"BOO"

"AHHH" I turned to watch him laugh at me.

"You should have seen the look on your face."

"Shut the fuck up." I pulled the bedroom door closed but he marched in like he was supposed to be there. I blinked as he sit down nonchalantly on my bed. He pated a spot next to him, indicating that he wanted me to sit down. I leaned up against the door with a frown. He pointed to my dresser.

"Who are they? In that picture." I looked over at the picture. The only picture of me and both my parents. When my name was still Lucy and my hair was still golden blonde. I picked up the picture, still inside its wooden frame, and sat next to Natsu, giving him a better like.

"That man is my father." I begin pointing at the faces inside the frame. "That's my mom, and that little blonde girl is me. I was five at the time."

"Whoa." That was all he said. I placed the picture back in its place as Natsu found something else to ask about.

"Hey Liz, who's Lucy? I keep seeing that name on almost everything."

"Lucy is…Well… Me. Lucy is my real name." He stared at me in disbelief as a sat back down next to him. A thick awkward silence filled the air. The wall of silence broke as he responded with yet another question.

"If you're Lucy, than who's Levy?" I felt my heart strings slowly snapping in tiny little pieces.

"Levy was… everything to me…." I said simply. Levy was a touchy subject to talk about.

"Was" He echoed.

"She was my best friend since before I could remember. She was always there for me, and vice versa. But one day, I wasn't able to get to her. She died on prom night." Tears formed in my eyes but I refused to let them fall. "She was nominated the prom queen. She ran up to me with the biggest and brightest smile. She told me she was going to finally talk to the guy she liked, and she did. But there was this fucking bitch who was jealous because Levy had the crown and Gajeel, so she waited until Levy went to the washroom to start telling him all these nasty lies and when she seen Levy, she kissed Gajeel right in front of Levy. So like the good friend I thought I was, I got mad at Gajeel while Levy was being pushed into the middle of the street. I ran out with Gajeel, after realizing what really happened." I explained, looking down. I paused at the flashback. Tears finally rushed out my cheeks and into my palms.

"Gajeel." He whispered.

"We watched as Levy was hit by a car with full force. After that, I had nothing to live for. The girl who pushed her was never seen again, Gajeel and I became friends, but then he moved away after high school. I haven't seen or heard from him in years." I sobbed. I looked up at him. He looked guilt of something terribly wrong.

"Gajeel was one of my best friends. So was the girl who pushed Levy. I haven't seen her since then either." He looked me in the eye, but something behind me made his eyes widen dramatically. He stood up quickly, making me worry.

"Why is there a razor blade on your nightstand?" Panic filled me to the brim. This was why I didn't want him in my room.

"Lucy, there's dry blood on here!"

"Don't call me that!" I stood up and reached for the blade, but he grabbed me wrist and pulled up sleeve. Neither of us moved or even made a single sound.

"You… you started cutting again?" His voice was filled with disappointment. He looked like he was about to cry, which made me upset. I freed myself from his grip and pulled down my sleeve.

"I don't want to talk about it." I turned away from him but he turned me back around, holding my arms in place.

"Hey! What are you doing!?"

"I've tried so damn hard to protect you from assholes who try to hurt you just to realize that you're hurting yourself purposely! I've seen you fall apart and I'm not willing to see it happen again."

"Then why did you stay? If you don't want to see me fall apart again, then why did you stay to protect me?"

"Because I…" He stopped himself. He was hiding something.

"I don't know…" Lies. Terrible lies.

"You're lying. You know why you stayed you just don't want to tell me." He closed his eyes and gently placed his forehead onto mine.

"I stayed because I need you." He said softly. My eyes widened in surprise.

"If you try to kill herself again and succeed, I'll go back to my old ways." A single teardrop slid down his cheek. He moved his arms so that I could move mine, but he still held me closely.

"I was a horrible person Lucy." He tells me through clenched teeth. I returned his hug as he explained a number of awful things. Drugs, alcohol, smoking, fights, stealing, starting fires, cutting himself. He stopped all those twisted habits after he saved my life. I was speechless.

"I can't go back to that. If I never met you, I'd be dead." His words hit me like a brick.

"W-what?" I stuttered. He rested his head on my shoulder.

"I was going to commit suicide, but when I saved you, I began to value my life. I thought I made you see the better things your life. I need you just as much as you need me." His warm breath tickled my earlobe. He was right. I hated to admit it sometimes but I needed Natsu, just as much as he needed me.

*KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK*

He opened his eyes, staring into mine.

"I need to answer that." I pulled away, heading to the front door.

*KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK*

I looked through the peep hole to check who was there. It was a short young girl who looked about twelve years old. She had long blue hair tied in ponytails and chocolate brown eyes. I open the door with a warm smile.

"He-" I'm interrupted before I could even say hello. I suddenly saw the fear painted over her little face.

"Some creepy guy is after me. I need help."
