Deities and Potatoes

Tenten felt her emotions dwindle from a torrential downpour of grief to a mild trickle of guilt, she honestly couldn't decide which was worse. Languid and miserable from an excruciatingly long and hellacious exam, she found herself at a doorway of a familiar cafe.

She let out a dry laugh as she saw Neji calmly taking a drink, unfazed by the aforementioned exam. 'Not even a hair out of place,' she scoffed lightly.

It's not reasonable to hate him, but her mind has long since decided to throwaway all reason and logic when it comes to the Hyuuga prodigy.

'There is no justice,' she muses, 'that he looks every bit like a marble statue of some Greek deity while I look like a miserable potato.'

Her frustration must have shown she concludes as the barista, Eire: the nameplate declares, smiled sympathetically.

Tenten threw an apologetic smile and was about to order coffee when she blurted out "I totally know how you feel," casting a look to the apathetic Hyuuga,"Doesn't he look so dreamy?"

Tenten felt her face fall flat and masked a groan growing in her throat with a grunt.

Meanwhile lips quirked up as if to form a small smile... Or smirk really.

Tenten slumped to a chair and closed her eyes. Refusing to acknowledge the lingering thoughts about Biochemistry or anything remotely related to it. She did, however, hear the chairs accommodate someone.

She looked up to pallid eyes, neither stale nor dreary, and was simply lost as he sat across her.

'Wha..?'

"Hn" She snapped awake at his monotonous greeting.

"Hey, make yourself comfortable." She bitingly greeted to which he responded with a placid look and a sip on his tea.

She would've put up a fight, honestly, but she was not in the condition nor in a disposition for an argument so she sighed in resignation and quietly accepted the company.

"You look terrible." He remarks calmly, unaffected by her sarcasm.

She doesn't stop the laughter forming in her throat because she does look terrible and she remembers that she doesn't really care.

"Yes, Neji and you don't." She replies.

He smirks as she laughs and admires the smile adorning her face because it suits her better.

Neji's blank expression doesn't demonstrate his concern, and if Tenten noticed, she doesn't comment.
