Tears from the Sky

My life was a happy one up until that point. I hadn't seen much but I had been happy with Grandpa. Then things made a turn for the better when I met my first friend, Puck. We snuck in to "Will you be my Canary?" at Alexandria, those were some good times. But after that my life was put on a whirlwind course, I met him, Zidane. Trouble followed him wherever he went, beautiful women did too. That fact was proven by Princess Garnet, the most beautiful woman I had ever seen joined him right before I did. And then that crazy old knight, Rusty, or Steiner, followed us too. We had a few adventures but then came the turning point for me, the point when my life took on a new meaning.

We were all on a Cargo Ship trying to head to Lindblum when out of nowhere, a man who looked like me appeared and attacked us, viciously murdering the crew. He wore the same type of hat, and had the same golden beady eyes I did, he called himself Black Waltz No. 3, and he seemed to be only interested in killing, killing everyone in way of the princess. Myself, Zidane, and Rusty faced him aboard the air ship as Garnet raced towards the Southern Gate that led to Lindblum. The battle was a quick one which we eventually lost when No. 3 blasted us with his much superior magical powers.

That's when it happened, I was knocked back into very end of the deck of the ship and I witnessed No. 3 blast the deck and cargo with everything he had. The boxes and barrels flew off the ship and exploded, revealing hundreds upon hundreds of other black mages falling from the sky. I ran up to the railing to view them, each one looking even more like me, yet not one of them tried to do something to stop the inevitable impact. They just fell motionlessly to the harsh ground below.

Right now, years after the actual event, I can tell it in such a calm manner. But back then, when I was just a child cast into a world filled with such anguish and confusion, I wept terribly and gazed at No. 3, I swear to this day he was enjoying it. Then I looked back to my fallen comrades, others such as I falling to the ground, they were nothing but tears from the sky, tears I would avenge one day.

I turned towards No. 3 and erupted into a fury of blazing fire magic knocking him square off of the ship. However, his steeple head hat remained caught on the railing. I ran to it and hugged it within my small arms, I began to cry again.

Zidane ran back towards me and grabbed my shoulder but I threw him off. He had no idea, and could never grasp, what it would be like to be me, what it would be like to be so different, so close to those just like you, but in a different world all together. My tears fell from my face and entered the burial place for my brethren, the sweet blue sky.
