What's in a Name: Robin
The name Robin was not a feared as Batman, or as idolized as Superman, or as well loved as The Flash, but still.
He was the first sidekick, and with in the hero community and beyond, the name was respected.
It seemed like a long way to come from a pet name his mother use to call him as a little boy.
Richard Grayson is a name that inspires jealousy and pandering. He is the heir apparent to Bruce Wayne, the richest man in Gotham and one of the wealthiest in the world.
He is the subject of blogs and tabloids and 'days until he's eighteen countdown' lists. He even had his own Wikipedia page (that Bruce monitors closely, to make sure it isn't to accurate.)
He's Dick to those he's close to. To Bruce and to his parents and to the few friends he has at school. Alfred calls him Master Richard, but really he's Dick to Alfred too. He likes Dick, though it has some annoying implications, you'd think he was named in the 1940s.
Robin works though, around Young Justice, even if they are close to him too. He can be Robin or Rob, and it doesn't sound too silly. No sillier then Dick would have in the minds of teenage boys.
He doesn't feel very guilty about not telling them his real name anyway.
Because he isn't like Clark Kent/Kal-El/Superman or like Batman/Bruce Wayne/Brucie. Robin and Richard Grayson and Dick are all the same person. They are all him, just with different names for your convenience.
He doesn't maintain two or even three identities to go along with the different names. He think he needs to and really he doesn't think Bruce or Clark need to either. He's happy with himself and his names.
