Patching Things Up
A Hermes x Helios Fanfic
Summary: Hermes sews the head of Helios back on…Things go accordingly from there.
A/N: Feel the POWER of the SUN! Also, I do not own the God of War franchise!
With his right hand, he held the needle steady. His left balanced the severed head neatly. With intense focus, he aligned the head and the spine. He applied a slight pressure to keep the head in place. The tip of the needle poked into tan skin and penetrated deep into the muscle. Bloody fingers pulled the needle through and tightened the first stitch. Hermes tightened the golden thread and tied it off. He used his teeth to break the strand. He threaded the needle a second time and heard a faint hiss as the needle broke through the skin.
"Almost, my friend…"
The messenger reassured Helios and noted his discomfort. He pushed the needle in and pulled it out in an eerie rhythm…It soothed Helios… Hermes, who was so impatient, so selfish, brash, was willingly lending him a hand. The Sun God felt warmth constrict his immortal heart and he found himself holding back a smile.
Time had flown, and slight pain was accompanied by joy. Helios was so busy in his own thoughts that he nearly missed when Hermes had whispered "Done."
"Oh"
Hermes took a step back to admire his handiwork. He gave the other god a sincere smile and extended his hand. He helped Helios to find his ground, and walked him to his chambers.
Helios left his shoes at the door and he shed his armor before climbing into bed. He anticipated sleeping off the pain until he felt coldness on his side. Startled, the Sun God whipped his head around quick (not to quick!) just in time to see Hermes climbing in beside him. Helios instinctively turned onto his side to face the other male. The two shared the silence, until the quickster spoke up:
"…I hope you don't mind…" he said quietly. Helios was literally unable to speak, so he gave him a slight shake of his head.
He tried to steady his breathing as he saw Hermes drifting to sleep. Helios found himself unable to resist, he couldn't help but to crave some more of that contact. He leaned forward a bit and planted his lips on Hermes forehead. All too quickly, Hermes eyes fluttered open. Helios instantly felt his heart sink with regret. He mentally cursed himself and couldn't stop the utter embarrassment that flooded him when he saw Hermes sporting an amused grin.
"Ohhh…" He drawled, "Very interesting!"
Helios tried to pull back immediately but Hermes caught him by the shoulders.
"Well?" Hermes cocked an eyebrow and waited for an answer.
"What!" Helios wanted to leave, or mold into the ground. Hermes would mock him, humiliate him…That was the very definition of Hermes personality; Easily amused. Rude. Maybe, Helios contemplated, maybe it was wrong to believe he-
The feel of Hermes lips against his own stopped him dead in his tracks.
