She walks down the corridor, unaware of the pair of eyes following her every move

She carries her books, anxious to get to her next class

In the back of her mind, she wishes he would notice her, but believes he never will

If she only knew

He stands in an alcove, listening to his friend talk at him, but he is not listening

He is watching her

How she walks, so excited to learn

How she is so brilliant, and almost always willing to help him out

How he knows he loves her, but she couldn't love him back

If he only knew

She enters the classroom and takes a seat, preparing her materials far ahead of time

She wants to be ready, so she can finish her work and think to herself

Think about things she couldn't tell anyone

Things she only recently was able to admit to herself

She knows she loves him, but he couldn't love her back

If she only knew

Laughing, he enters the room

She is already there, as he knew she would be

She sits, patiently waiting for the arrival of the professor

He goes and sits with her, as he always does

He waits for her to acknowledge his presence

As always, a few minutes later she sees him

The way her eyes light up when she sees him gives him hope, just for a second

He quickly shoves it away

She couldn't see him the way he sees her

There's no way

If he only knew

They look at each other

They think, just for a second, "Maybe…"

NO! They were just imagining things, right?

Yes, mind tricks

That's what it is

If they only knew
