Keladry, is a tall girl of 19, one of the two lady knights the realm of Tortall has.

She was about to leave to new haven, when a bright flash of light surrounds her. She finds herself in a room with some other people she already knows, Dom, Raoul, Buri, Alanna, George, Neal, King Johnathan, Queen Thayet, Shinko, Yuki, Daine, Numair, Lalasa, Toby, Anders, Conal, Inness, Piers, Ilane, Owen, Jump and Wyldon.

Everyone is staring at each other in shock. Finally king Johnathan broke the silence

"What's going on and where are we?"

Everyone started to talk all at once

"Isn't this..."

"No it's…"

"How did we all get here?"

The talking was interrupted with another bright flash of light and a note floated down to where Alanna grabbed it.

"Dear all reading this note

I have brought you here to read 4 books about the protector of the small. They go in the order of First test, Page, Squire and Lady Knight. While you are reading these books time in Tortall is paused.2 friends will be arriving with the books in a few minutes. I hope the experience will be enlightening for you all. There is a kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms through the door. Each person has their own room, just look for your name on the door.

After Alanna finished reading everyone was silent, lost in their own thoughts. Kel was worried, everyone hearing about her training. Her thoughts, crushes and the fights.

Everyone else was thinking about how exciting it was to finally hear what was going on behind the damn mask she always had.

A bright flash of light filled the room scaring everyone from their thoughts. 2 girls and a pile of books had appeared.

"What happened? Why are you all staring at me? Where are we?" the first girl shot out the questions so fast the words had become one very long word. The 2nd girl stayed quiet and let the 1st girl do the talking. The Tortallians took this time to examine the girls, the First girl, the one doing all the talking had blond hair with brown highlights, and she looked to be around 5'9 and had brown eyes, like the colour of melted chocolate. She wore a pair of faded jeans and a blue jumper that hung open to reveal a white t-shirt with the batman symbol and a pair of blue and white Nike's. The second girl had dark brown hair and was about 5'11, she wore black jeans with rips at the knees, a leather jacket, and a white t-shirt that had black sleeves and a black superman symbol with combat boots. The second girl seemingly tiring of the first girls non-stop questions, put her hand on the other girls shoulder, the first girl turned to look at her and they had a whispered conversation. After a couple minutes of the whispered conversation Johnathan got tired of being ignored and spoke up "Please can you introduce yourselves". The blond haired girl spoke up "My name is Meoghan and this" gesturing to the other girl "is Jenna. Now I have introduced us, can you please introduce yourselves and tell us why we are here."

This time Thayet spoke up and introduced everyone then she paused and said "we received a note saying that we were here to read 4 books about Keladry here and that you would bring them. And it seems like you did"

Meoghan shot Jenna a look. Then Jenna spoke up "the protector of the small quartet? The ones written by Tamora Pierce?" "Must be" Meoghan said "well shall we get started than?" and promptly pulled Jenna over to the couches sat her down and then lay down on the couch using Jenna's lap as a pillow. Jenna groaned but didn't do anything other than put her feet up on the table in front of her, like she was well used to Meoghan doing this. Slowly everyone else moved to the couches and Neal picked up the first book and started to read.
