Life's Thin Lines

There are so many thin lines in life that once you cross, you can never go back. Sometimes we see them, sometimes we don't, and sometimes...we don't even know when we're walking the edge of the blade...

Zoro sat on the deck of the Going Merry, staring out at the sea in silence. Thoughts raced through his head, voices of the past rang in his ears. It had always been like this...always like this. Sometimes he would lie awake at night, staring at the ceiling, unable to sleep, just begging for the voices to shut up.

But they never did. They never did.

Of course, he didn't tell anyone about it. Of course not. They'd think he was insane, wouldn't even give him a chance to explain, most likely. He could imagine it now...

"Zoro, you are SERIOUSLY messed up. Get away from me." That was Nami.

"A-are you f-feeling alright, Zoro?" Usopp. He could always tell from the stutter.

"Get yourself some professional help, Swordboy." Sanji. That cocky attitude gave him away.

And he waited...

...wait.

Why couldn't he imagine Luffy criticizing him?

"Zoro...how come you never told me before? I'm your friend, you should tell me stuff like this! I can try and help you..."

That was...Luffy's voice...

...but why wasn't he freaked out or anything?

Zoro looked at the sky in contemplation. Would Luffy truly understand...?

Zoro blinked as he heard a voice behind him.

"Gomu Gomu no..." he saw two hands clasp the railing by his head.

"Oh shit..." he muttered.

"ROCKEEET!"

He turned his head quickly, to see his captain flying towards him at high speeds.

"LUFFY, YOU IDIOT!" he yelled, managing to grab the devil boy before he tumbled into the ocean, and managing not to go falling over himself, by some miracle he didn't understand.

Luffy grinned up at him. "Thanks a lot Zoro!"

Zoro grumbled, dropping his captain to the floor. "You idiot. You know full well you can't swim."

Luffy laughed, fixing the hat on his head and giving his usual big, goofy grin. "I know!"

I will be making a second chapter so please rieview.
